'ugly' EURO symbol in lyx with standard font
Dear Lyx Users, I have the following problem. Whenever I generate a Lyx Document (using all standard settings including the font and an up-to-date miktex on a windows system) I find the € (EURO ) symbol, also the German ß (Eszett, scharfes S) and the @ (at) quite ugly and looking out of place (as if written in another font or with a different resolution). Is this just me, or does anyone have the same problem? Is there anything I can do to improve this? Thanks a lot for your help. SK

Problem with math macros (how to type pure #)
Dear All, I am using LyX for some months with no problem whatsoever. I think it is a great tool and great fun. However, trying to educate myself, I found in the User Guide that there are macros and decided to try them. The fun is as follows: 1. I type in the minibuffer 'math-macro fun 1' and the macro box pops up as expected; 2. I type in the macro-box f(#1), but the actual source I get is f(\#1)! Afterwards the macro, of course, appears as 'f(#1)' even though the box seems to work. The only workaround I found is to copy and paste the #1 from the example in the User Guide. So, my question is does anybody know how to actually type # without the backslash. Apropos, I am now on LyX 1.5.2 (October 07) running on Windows XP. All the best, Milen Ivanov

Preview doc. under Linux
Dear LyX users, I'm new to LyX -- pls forgive if the question is trivial: I'm currently migrating to Linux, and I've selected LyX as word processor. I'm practicing at LyX under Linux and Windows as well. I would like to preview/print some of the LyX documentation, but under Linux it doesn't work. Under Windows instead, the doc. appears to preview fine. (Linux Ubuntu 7.10 / LyX installed through add/remove applet.) TIA - regards, Daniel CLEMENT
lyx2lyx conversion failure

The error message is that the file is from an older version of Lyx and lyx2lyx failed to convert it, but I understand that's a bug in the message. This is the same problem as seen on the list here >> http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-users@lists.lyx.org/msg59950.html . There, Jorge says that the latest 1.4.x will do this but I'm using the package distributed with Ubuntu and want to stick with that for ease of package management. Where can I find a copy of lyx2lyx that will convert my file? Thanks, Jim
