toolbars gone
Hi-- I've done something stupid, and now my toolbars are gone and I can't get them back. Here's what happened. I'm using Windows XP SP3 (yeah--no choice there) on a Lenovo T61. I downloaded and installed 1.6rc2 some time ago. I love it even more than 1.5.x. But today I realized that I hadn't set up my few custom keybindings, so I blindly put my custom .bind file from 1.5.6 in the user directory, went to ToolsPreferencesLook Feel, and set the User interface file to my .bind file. Of course both menus and toolbars disappeared at once. I uninstalled LyX, checked that both the Program Files\Lyx16 directory and the user directory were gone, and ran a registry cleaner (just in case--I don't know if LyX writes to the registry). Then I downloaded the installer again and ran it, and I still don't get the toolbars. (I do get the standard menu bar.) The User interface file line says default. I've looked at default.ui, and it seems normal. In particular, the lines to show the usual toolbars are present. I've also looked at stdtoolbars.inc, and it also looks normal. I've done all this more than once, and I've rebooted the machine in between. I don't think it can be an SP3 issue, because LyX was running perfectly earlier today. What am I overlooking? Re: algorithm2e in LyX 1.5.6: algorithm already defined
Thanks for your suggestion. Since you CAN use algorithm2e, I know that a solution exists. Actually, I had the problem with 1.5.5 and then upgraded to 1.5.6. I am guessing that there is something else in the original imported LaTeX file that is triggering this code to be written. I'll see if I can track it down. Take a look at Document Settings to see if there is any option concerning algorithms. Unless anyone else gives a solution, I suggest that you file a bug in bugzilla.lyx.org. Bibliography format problem, Please help !!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone, I am using lyx for writing my thesis and am a Really new user of latex. After much hard work, I have decided to use LYX and for my bibliography I wish to use jabref. Now, creation of references in jabref is Ok. I have decided to use the following filefor the bib style. http://www.math.utah.edu/pub/tex/bibtex/unsrt.bst I have adjusted some minor customizations for author name year etc.. But the real problem I am facing right now is about reference formatting. The above file and almost all other style files available on net LIST THE REFERENCES in a single line e.g. Auger P., J. Phys. Radium 6, 205 (1925) But I want them to be in the below given format Auger P., J. Phys. Radium 6, 205 http://n2.nabble.com/file/n1128059/unsrt.bst unsrt.bst (1925) i.e. Authors on the first line journal, publication details in the second. I have tried all my options but I am not able to change this style file to move to second line. Kindly suggest the Change at the earliest. Thanks in advance. Thanks for your suggestion. Since you CAN use algorithm2e, I know that a solution exists. Actually, I had the problem with 1.5.5 and then upgraded to 1.5.6.
Thanks in advance. toolbars gone
But today I realized that I hadn't set up my few custom keybindings, so I blindly put my custom .bind file from 1.5.6 in the user directory, went to Tools>Preferences>Look & Feel, and set the User interface file to my .bind file. (I do get the standard menu bar.) The "User interface file" line says "default". Thanks, Steve -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/toolbars-gone-tp1125160p1125160.html Sent from the LyX - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Export to Latex w/ or w/o pdflatex
Hello there, can anyone please tell me what the difference between exporting to LaTeX (plain) and exporting to LaTeX (pdflatex) is? Which commands are run exactly and can someone give a recommendation? I wrote a paper with LyX but would like to manually fine tune the latex source to make sure everything conforms to the given Springer LLNCS requirements. I want to do the fine tuning in WinShell. I want to use pdflatex to compile the source. I'm using MiKTeX 2.7. Thanks for help Cheers Martin -- For emails, please use cs.tu-berlin.de as domain and nimoth as local part.

Martin Görg wrote: > Using a file compare tool (Total Commander), I realize that the two > generated files (plain and pdflatex) are identical. Is that correct? Not necessarily. Sometimes the output will differ. For instance, the method of outputting change tracking markup currently differs between plain (dvipost) and pdflatex (soul.sty). Same if you use external insets (such as xfig). Jürgen

table text alignment bug?
Can anyone verify this? Create a table with two columns, one row. Put some text in the first cell, and put a figure in the second. Align the text "top" in the table. The alignment will always be bottom. I cannot seem to get LyX to respect the alignment. I have had this happen in 1.5.6 and 1.6rc2, both on Mac. James

Authors on the first line & journal, publication details in the second. I have tried all my options but I am not able to change this style file to move to second line. Kindly suggest the Change at the earliest. Thanks in advance.
