There you can set the class-option "titlepage" (just add it to the empty
line) and everything will be fine, you can even omit the newpage.

Cool, thanks. One glitch though: the layout of the title page changes:
the text becomes vertically aligned on the centre [1]. Is this
expected? (It also impacts more heavily the tilte page of `article
(paper)'.)

If you want more control over the design of your titlepage, I suggest to
use \begin{titlepage} and \end{titlepage} (both in ERT). Between those
two, you can fill in the content of your titlepage (as standard text,
formatted by hand) in a way that it suits your needs. Of course this
needs a bit fingerpainting but offers control over the layout. Keep in
mind that you have to keep the "titlepage"-class-option, or you will get
your pagenumber back.

Florian

To me this is not a viable approach for `article (paper)'. But I found
a (dirtier) hack: generate the 1st-page-nr-bugged .pdf, open it with
PDFedit [1], draw a white rectangle over the 1st page number, and
save. The .pdf file seems clean after the PDFedit save, and has no
numbering on the first page. Not very cute, but a way to go.

Thanks for you help,

Using google, I found another possibility which should now be exactly
what you want.
Don't give article the option titlepage, put "\begin{titlepage}" in
front of your title and right after all your titlepage-specific things
in a new paragraph "\thispagestyle{empty} \end{titlepage}".
Now everything should look like in your first example but without the
pagenumber. This works, because Lyx inserts the \maketitle command right
after your titlepage-things but now before the end of the titlepage. So
now the pagenumber on the titlepage is suppressed by \thispagestyle{empty}.

That's the best keyboard based solution indeed.
The best mouse based solution is to use shift + right click.

Both these solutions work brilliantly. Thanks to all!
This list is really brilliant.

Are these methods of selection in the LyX help documents?

Dunno... If you don't find it and would like to write something down,
please contribute your addition to the documentation list.

Or are they artefacts of the Qt library?

No, these are genuine LyX features :-)
Basically everything inside the editing area is based on own own LyX code.

Yeah, this seems to work. Again, thanks.

Hi,

Is it stupid to ask an export fonction from lyx to epub format (xhtml) ?

It will be great to have this capability to manage text readable by
netbook reader !

Thanks for every idea about this new feature !

There should be no need to go back. Do you have an example file that
does

not work?

What is your OS by the way?

Cross-References doubts

2009-04-25 Thread Adrian Diaz
Hi Friends of Lyx

Sometimes i need to define lemma, proposition, theorem or simply some
definitions. I think it is very easy
to use them cos i can set by *description* or *list*.

However, i have problems when i want to work with cross-references. The
problem is that every time i define a *description* for theorem, for
example, the theorem defined gets the cross-refence of the chapter, section
or subsecction etc, wherever place i have defined it.

I known that i have to insert a label firts, but it only is useful when i
am writting a thesis, guide etc.

i would like to insert my own cross-reference, and when i have to insert my
defined refence it appears on the pdf text

I am working with lyx 1.5.6.

Any advice to solve the problem?
if i have to install any package, how do i have to install the package in
Lyx?

   Thanks in advance Adrián

Then you haven't defined the environment correctly. You find some examples how it is done at
http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/I18nLabels

Attached is a LyX file taken from this Wiki page showing that referencing works
as expected.

1. In LyX, does Tools > TeX Information > LaTeX classes show
beamer.cls? If not, you need to reinstall the beamer package in MiKTeX
and then reconfigure LyX.

2. Does Tools > TeX Information LaTeX styles show both pgf.sty and
xcolor.sty? If not, install the missing package(s) in MiKTeX, go back
to Tools > TeX Information LaTeX styles and click the Rescan button.

3. Does beamer.layout exist in C:\Program Files\LyX16\Resources\layouts?
If not, something went wrong in your LyX installation, and you need to
get a copy of the layout file from someone.

4. All else failing, you might try deleting you home directory. In LyX,
click Help > About LyX and look for the "user directory" (typically
something like "~\Application Data\lyx16". At a command prompt, type
"set home" to get your HOMEDRIVE (usually C:) and HOMEPATH (usually
\Documents and Settings\). Replace the tilde with HOMEDRIVE
HOMEPATH. Close LyX, delete the user directory (e.g., C:\Documents and
Settings\\Application Data\lyx16) and everything underneath it,
then restart LyX and let LyX recreate it. (This is a bit of a long
shot, but in the past a few people have been afflicted with incorrect
settings that seem to have gotten permanently stuck in their user
directory somehow.)

Inserting the List of Figures and List of Tables INTO the TOC

2009-04-25 Thread Luca De Marini
Hallo everyone, very quick question: how do I have the List of Figures and
List of Tables appear INTO the TOC? I just need an entry in the TOC like:

Chapter x: page2
Chapter y: page10
List of Figures: page 50
List of Tables: page 54

Something like that because my teacher wants me to put the TOC on the
beginning of the document and the lists on the bottom of it, and he wants
the lists to appear in the TOC too of course. I was sure tehre was an
automatic way to do it but at the end I noticed that it was possible only to
put the bibliography page in the TOC, not the page where the lists are..
Please help me, I know this must be a simple solution but I'm not finding it
in the documentation :)
Bye

Add "\addcontentsline{toc}{section}{\listfigurename}" in ERT right in
front of your list of figures and
"\addcontentsline{toc}{section}{\listtablename}" right in front of your
list of tables.
If you want the lists to appear like subsections in the TOC you need to
replace both "section" by "subsection".
