Worked for me. LyX does not and cannot support every font and every package. If supporting this one seems important, then please file an enhancement request. Richard

In LaTeX, typically dsfont is used, but \(\mathds{1}\) produces no result (within lyx). But it does work on the output, right? At least, once you add \usepackage{dsfont} to the preamble. Worked for me. I could import the package in the preamble (Document>Settings>Preamble) via \usepackage{dsfont} (untested), but I would like to avoid the Evil Red Text. I have never run into this, but I also never tried it. You could use \mathbb{I} instead -- but the blackboard bolds within math mode, as far as I know, only apply to capital Roman letters (I use R, C, H, and Z all the time). -- David L. Inserting blackboard bold 1 in LyX
To whom this may concern, I want to insert a blackboard bold 1 in lyx (For the identity matrix) (Unicode: ퟙ), but I can't seem to find anyway to do it. I tried changing the encoding to the various unicode types in the document settings (Document->Settings->Language-Encoding-Other), but all of the encoding types produce errors. In LaTeX, typically dsfont is used, but \(\mathds{1}\) produces no result (within lyx). I could import the package in the preamble (Document>Settings>Preamble) via \usepackage{dsfont} (untested), but I would like to avoid the Evil Red Text. Your guidance on the matter is greatly appreciated, Cheers, -- -* Jonathan Horton*
Minor upgrade Issue
Been using Lyx 2.2.0 without any real problems but a small issue appeared in a Koma article that had been upgraded from 2.1. Whenever a nesting level was changed, a hyperlink inserted into a nested list, or we went from nesting back to normal text layout, Lyx inserted an arrow head with a red vertical curly tail at the end of the last line before the change. This had no effect on the formatting in the Lyx file nor on the pdf's derived from it but did give some strife in the conversion to html. My colleague on this project commented : " --a hundred or more red hard return icons in the lyx file that showed up as "\begin_inset Separator latexpar\end_inset" in the html (took me over an hour to find and delete them!) " They were not apparent in the Lyx source pane. We hope we have deleted them all and that, now we are using 2.2. for all authoring and editing, they will not return. Gordon Tauranga N.Z.

As you can imagine, for any reasonable facimile of decent reading, I must embed the fonts used. However, most fonts that are "free" to insert in a document are not free to insert in a document that is distributed, because in that case you're giving away the font's source, not just its appearance. Professional font licences usually allow the distribution of the necessary subset of the font along with documents, as XeTeX does. Also, the SIL Open Font license states: "The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the Font Software". I am surprised that other open-source font licences do not appear to include similar exceptions. As far as I know, the Liberation fonts don't have this problem, but then again, they're not especially readable. What other fonts are completely free to give away embedded inside a document you sell? Adobe's free fonts are of the highest quality and are under the SIL Open Source license. I eagerly await the release of the italics of Adobe's Source Serif Pro. If not for this issue, I would recommend that you have a look. There are forums on the internet where people who love to argue about typography meet, and they love to answer these kind of questions.
License on TeX-Gyre-Schola embedded in document??
Hi all, I'd like to use TeX-Gyre-Schola, because it's very legible on the screen, and it *seems* to be allowable to embed it in a PDF without anyone needing to pay anyone else. Here's the license info I found: License, which incorporates LaTeX Public License: https://www.fontsquirrel.com/license/TeX-Gyre-Schola LaTeX Public License: https://latex-project.org/lppl/lppl-1-3c.txt Regarding the LPL, I've been unable to find a legal definition of "Derived Work" that I could understand, so I don't know if my book, which I will sell as a PDF file, is "derived" from TeX-Gyre-Schola, or whether it simply includes a copy of TeX-Gyre-Schola. Also, it doesn't include ALL of TeX-Gyre-Schola, so I don't know whether *that's* violating the license. Anyone know whom I could ask regarding these things?
