Did you compile lyx with qt or xforms?

No idea. I dont know how select one or other. How I can do it?

Have you tried to use lyx installed from an rpm file, instead of compiling?
I will search in Internet for lyx rpm.

Also look at your X setup. Apparently, some input methods for òóö...
works with lyx and some have trouble.

I use debian. Lyx-qt version 1.3.4, from debian or self-compiled both
works with òóìí and so on. The keyboard section from
my XF86Config-4 file looks like this:

Section InputDevice
Identifier Generic Keyboard
Driver keyboard
Option CoreKeyboard
Option XkbRules xfree86
Option XkbModel pc105
Option XkbLayout no
EndSection

You probably want something other than no for the
keyboard layout, of course. I type á by first typing
the dead key ' (altgr and \ actually), then I type
the a and get a á.

I will look this. Thanks Helge.

There is a bug in this Qt version: the dead keys are, well, dead.

So if you tyÃpoe an accent, say, ^, it doesn't wait for the character

Very irritating. It also disables the use of ^ for superscript in math.

I have Suse Linux 9.1 and selected Spanish keyboard.
In all soft accents work fine.
 I compiled Lyx 1.3.5.
I selected Edit Preferences Lang Opts Language and selected
 Default Language = Spanish,
I check keyboard map and then choose espanol.kmap,
 then click Apply button,
but accents no work, acute plus vocals (áéíóú´´AÉÍÓÚ) = unknow function.
Tilde plus n (ñ) work fine.

In others applications like Kwrite, Open Office, all work good.
 What happens ?

 thanks

What if you don't use a keyboard map?

I write in Portuguese those same accents without any need for a special
keyboard...

José Abílio

I try with no keyboard map. No work.
 Another idea? Thanks. Marcelo
