Re: Excel graphs into Lyx
I find that the best way to do this is print the graph to a pdf file, you can find out how to do this via a quick google search. You can then edit the pdf in any vector graphics program to save it as an eps which will not decline in quality as it is resized - Boffinboy timtheenchanter wrote: > > Sorry if this question has been answered before but what is the best way > to import excel graphs (Charts) into Lyx. Re: paste into table
Hold shift when you paste (shift-ctrl-v) and it should put the values in the correct cells. Re: importing spreadsheet rows and columns
The simplest method (if you have a table of the right size set up in LyX) is to paste with shift held down as well i.e. shift+ctrl+v - that puts the data in to the cells, rather than all in one cell. I don't know why it works but it does and will save you having to export all of your spreadsheets. Hope that helps! jf7 wrote: > > > Hi, I'm using LyX 1.5.3 and have a situation where I need to put > spreadsheet data into tables in LyX -- several of them actually. Re: Unwanted vertical white space between figure and caption
Thanks for the advice, the caption package I was using to set other parameters of the captions allows a function to set the width so now I don't have to deal with miniboxes. It also has a function to set the gap between figures and the caption so the other problem is solved too! rgheck wrote: > > Boffinboy wrote: >> I am using the captions in a minibox as they contain a lot of text and >> are >> often wider than the figure itself. Re: Unwanted vertical white space between figure and caption
I am using the captions in a minibox as they contain a lot of text and are often wider than the figure itself. This doesn't look nice if LyX is left to handle it by default. By putting it in a minibox it's possible to set the width of the caption to correspond to that of the figure - a workaround I found through searching the messages here. rgheck wrote: > > Boffinboy wrote: >> I seem to be full of questions today! Unwanted vertical white space between figure and caption
I seem to be full of questions today! I am placing figures and tables in floats and using a minibox to provide the captions for each. With tables the caption sits flush with the bottom of the table and I have fixed this by inserting a default vertical skip in the caption minibox. However for figures (using eps files, jpeg etc.) there is already a gap between the bottom of the image and the text of the caption, however it is larger than I want it to be. Is there a way to prevent this space and replace it with the default vertical skip as I have done with the tables? Or is the only way to get a uniform look to use a larger skip with the tables so they match the look for figures? Re: Plus/minus signs appear 'thin' in PDF and problems with greek letters
Thanks, after a bit of experimentation I loaded txfonts and that's done the trick! Also fixes the problem I had with the minus signs being too small and not being able to set the default font to times! Paul A. Plus/minus signs appear 'thin' in PDF and problems with greek letters
Hi all, I have two minor problems using LyX to prepare my thesis. I have tried a search but can't seem to come up with an answer - though this could be because I am not searching for the right thing! The first problem I have is that, plus and minus signs appear very 'thin' in the PDF output of Lyx - this doesn't affect DVI output. The second problem I have is that I am using quite a few greek letters for units e.g. mu for micro. I don't want the italisised style that comes from inputting them in maths mode so I have copied the characters from word in to lyx and then just copied and pasted any time I need them. However, if I change the default font to e.g. times, I get an error message when I attempt to make a PDF or DVI which I have copied below. Font LGR/ptm/m/n/10=grtm10 at 10.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not foun } I wasn't able to read the size data for this font, so I will ignore the font specification. [Wizards can fix TFM files using TFtoPL/PLtoTF.] You might try inserting a different font spec; e.g., type `I\font='. Any help would be much appreciated!
