algorithm
Hi there I used the algorithm package (algo-0.3) and with an algo floating box, I cannot control its position on the page and it leaves empty space above and below (I.e., the algo box is centered). section and figure heads
Hi I am using the article format with 10pt times fonts. I need to change the defaults for the look of the section and figure headers. I need to reduce the size of the section heads defaults so that it is 12pt boldface (not 14pt) I also need to have a dot "." after the section number I need to also reduce to 12pt the "Referenced" header. For figures, I need the "Figure x." to be in 10 pt helvetica boldface with a dot "." not a colon (the default), and the caption to be helvetica 10pt. Same thing for tables. spreadsheet & graphs
Hi Is there an (UNIX) application that would implement a Spreadsheet (alike Excel) based on La/TeX ?? (I would like to be able to export easily the resulting tables to LyX documents). Also, what is a good (UNIX) tool to produce flow-charts, and simple graphs, that can be inserted in LyX (as figures I guess)? thanks -- Frederic LEYMARIE, R&D Project leader Brown University, Division of Engineering, LEMS, Box D 182 Hope Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02912, U.S.A. combining portrait and landscape
Dear LyXers Here is my problem: I have a document containing tables, some of which fit on Portrait (vertical orientation) but with others fitting only in Landscape mode (large horizontal tables). How can I generate the PostScript version with the right combination of portrait and landscape modes? When I go in the "Paper Layout" menu, the "Portrait" / "Landscape" option has a global effect on the document (apparently). Thanks for your insights. ... -- Frederic LEYMARIE, R&D Project leader Brown University, Division of Engineering, LEMS, Box D 182 Hope Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02912, U.S.A. subfigures
Folks How to put many figures in the same float figure env. with the following set-up: -- | Big | small fig2 | | | -| | fig1 | small fig3 | | | -| | on | small fig4 | | | -| | left | small fig5 | --- That is, 1 large fig. on the left and 4 small figures piled up in a second column on the right ??? Re: Margins style
Thanks it works fine. My text is "justified" on both sides by default. (i.e., the text is spaced so that each full line takes the same amount of space, like the text I am writing right now ). In the margin I get the same behavior, but that is not what I want ... (what I want the margin to be left justified, like this paragraph..., with no extra space between words/characters) help! Margins style
Dear Lyrical people :) A question when using margins (and geometry package). I can reset the margin size no problem. But, how to change the justification of only the (side) margins? I would like to keep my main text justified, but have the (right) margins left-justified. cheers -- Frederic LEYMARIE, R&D Project leader Brown University, Division of Engineering, LEMS, Box D 182 Hope Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02912, U.S.A. LaTeX vs XML/SGML/MathML
A few days ago there were 1 or 2 postings on LaTeX vs Markup Languages and the eventual support (or not) of XML by LyX. I just read an article in the last IEEE Spectrum magazine (http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/) of April on "Math on the Internet" and the new MathML standard (e.g. now supported by Mathematica) What about LyX exporting (and importing?) to (from) MathML ?? -- Frederic LEYMARIE, R&D Project leader Brown University, Division of Engineering, LEMS, Box D 182 Hope Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02912, U.S.A.
