Re: Chapter counter position in layout.
GM, Thanks for pointing that out. That was actually the first thing I tried. I figured its LabelType must have been defined as Top_Environment somewhere but I couldn't find it. It's defined as Counter in numarticle.inc, so it should not be display on top at all. I tried defining it again as Counter or other labeltypes in my own layout. Nothing works. LyX always shows the label on top and not to the left. Maybe I've found a bug? Jinghua === G. Chapter counter position in layout.
Hi, I'm trying to define a layout file for my dissertation. I haven't started adding anything and just copied the report layout as a starting point. While reading through all files included in this layout, I noticed something strange. The label for Chapter is displayed differently from those of Part, Section, Subsection, etc. The label (e.g., "Chapter 1") appears above the text, but the label for everything else appears to the left. However, I couldn't find anything in the layout files that defines the chapter label position (above or in the same line) differently from the rest of the sections labels. Can someone tell me how to move the label for chapter to the left? (This does not affect the functionality or the compiled output in any way, but I'm just curious because the counter appears to the left of the chapter name in the dissertation style of our university.) Thanks, Jinghua Zhong
Why does my LyX convert all images every time it compiles the file?
Hi, I'm using LyX 1.3.7-3 to edit a file I created using 1.3.5 last year. I have both EPS and PDF versions of my figures in the same directory. With 1.3.5, I seem to remember it doesn't convert my EPS files if PDF files are present. (I didn't specify extensions for my figure files and I use pdflatex.) However, with 1.3.7-3, LyX converts all my EPS files to PDF every time I compile. This makes it significantly slower. I lost my old 1.3.5 setup during a laptop failure, so I'm hoping someone here with more experience can tell me if I'm missing something in my new setup. Thanks, Jinghua Zhong
