A draft mode to forget figures

2000-10-16 Thread Laurent DUVAL

I am trying to produce a huge doc without figures.
The basic command with latex is
\usepackage[draft]{graphics}.

In that case, i only get a box with the name of the file.

When i try to use it in the latex preambule form LyX, i get an error like
"option package clash"?

Attempts to use \usepackage[,draft]{graphics} instead, as suggested,
just results in the same error (example included).

It seems the clash is related to the following \usepackage instruction
but I don't understand why.

What is going on which I don't understand and what should I do?

I have asked my sysadmin to perform the reconfigure proc. as a sysadmin.
Unfortunetely it does not work better.

I have even put the files
scrbook.layout scrmacros.inc

Could somebody give me some hints or workaround to be able to
use the scrbook layout?
I swear ;-) I have tried to read the book, but I don't seem to understand.

Re: xfig figure with formula

* is there a special directory, where they should be?

It is easier if both your figures (pstex and pstex_t) are in the same directory
as the lyx file (since, as far as I understand, the pstex_t includes the path
for the pstex).

* 2. ->insert->file
*I have given filename.pstex_t
*It does not display anything in xdvi.

I am just a novice lyx user, so forgive me if I cannot answer your needs:

Insert a \usepackage{epsfig} in your preamble (doesn't work without it here)
Insert float/Figure
and inside the figure red box, try
Insert/Include File (input checked)

It works at least for me.

Since a picture is worth a 1000 words, a sample file is included.
If it doesn't work for you, I can't help.

Hallo,

At least, it works fine with lyx 1.0.4, when I input the figure (use

There may be problems when the special text flag in Xfig is not set, or when
a formula misses a $.
Futhermore, figures should be in the proper directory.

reference to chapters in different parts

2000-03-09 Thread Laurent DUVAL

Glop glop

I am writing in a book layout, and cross references to chapters/sections in
different parts give the correct chapters/sections numbering, without
the part number, which could be somewhat confusing.

I guess one should write almost self-contained parts, and that the references to
forein parts should seldom be used.
In this case, it is easy to cross-ref to the part AND to the section.

But is there a simple way to have the part number included in the ref,
both everytime or whenever the part is different from the current one?

[graphics] links and box

2000-02-22 Thread Laurent DUVAL

Hello world,

As a newby with lyx_1.0.1 under SunOS, I have 3 problems related
to pictures files. Shared experience may help me fix that.

1- symbolic link
I have a picture directory, say Figures, and instead of creating a symb. link
for each figure I use in my LyX directory, I have linked a LyX/Fig dir
to the true Figures directory.
I just have to call Fig/mypicture.eps wherever I am, which is neat.
But this is less clever when I use .pstex and .pstex_t files, since
it does not find the .pstex file, and outputs me a kind of
bounding box error.

Is there a way to overcome the problem (without linking to the "missing" file)?

2- overrun error
I haven't found this in the doc, but is it possible to compile
in a "no-complaint" mode (view or print the file with remaining errors,
what one can do w/ LaTeX)?

3- Translated .pstex (not directly a LyX problem, I think)
Got a .pstex and a .pstex_t file, w/ formulas.
They appear quite correctly, except there is a big blank space
on the left, where a big formula lies in my original Xfig file.
Doesn't Xfig check the right side?
I have included the files (lyx, fig and pstex).

Thank you.
