Re: Fw: Postscript preview

2006-08-11 Thread Leonid Belostotski

Why don't you make the Matlab copy of GS the same as the system?

I tried that unsuccessfully already.

Matlab generates the ps file even when I remove its GS directory completely.
When I substitute Matlab GS with "official" GS, the figures still misbehave
after I regenerate them from scratch with the "official" GS located in
Matlab directory.

Another thing to look at is to invoke GSview, under Start->
All programs. After it loads, at the top under Options, choose
Advanced Configure. I was once shocked to discover that my
gs.dll and gs include path pointed to gs 7.07 which was long
gone; you want your current which in your case is 8.14 I think.
Anyway, I think those entries are generated from reading the
registry. And sometimes GS doesn't uninstall properly and leaves
old traces in the registry which are erroneously detected & used.

It points to 8.14 as needed.

I give up. Preview works most of the time, I can survive this one document
without having the preview.

List of tables, figres, and footnotes for article submission

2005-05-05 Thread Leonid Belostotski
Hello
This is an addition to my own question I asked a yesterday.
I found a WIKI page (http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/RedefiningListOfFigures) that
deals with refining the lest of figures.
I am trying to follow the description by starting Latex and then running
\documentclass{article}
BTW, I use article(IEEEtran) document class
Then after \show\listoffigures I get

\listoffigures=\long macro:\section *{\listfigurename [EMAIL PROTECTED]
{\MakeUppercase \listfigurename }{\MakeUppercase [EMAIL PROTECTED]
{lof}.

When I put this into preamble, there is a bunch of errors happen.
The first error says: Package babel error: You have not loaded package
english yet.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Does somebody know what's going on?
Thank you
Leo

Hello,
I'm submitting an article to IEEE Circuits and Systems. The submission
instructions require separate pages with all footnotes, all figure captions
(complete, including Fig X. in front of the caption but not including the
page number). Is it possible to accomplish this?

What I would like to do is to keep my paper in IEEEtran style and uncomment
the special instructions for submission purposes. For example I'm going to
add \onecolumn in the very beginning to overwrite the IEEEtran style. I
think this way I could have a single copy of the paper but I'll be able to
print it in manuscript submission format or the paper format. It would
probably be better to create another document layout but I have not had much
luck with those.

I'm using Lyx1.3.3 on Windows XP.
Thank you

This produces exactly the same errors as the \usepackage command.

I suspect it is for LaTex 2.09. Does this mean that there is nothing I can
do other than converting it into LaTeX2e by hand myself?

*.sty files

1999-10-19 Thread Leonid Belostotski

Hello,
I have downloaded *.sty style files for the Journal of Radio Science. I
now want to be able to use them from lyx.
First of all, I tried to include \usepackage{radga} in the preamble (one
of the style names is radga.sty) but that did not work. I get a few errors
pop up in the document saying that no \title is given, \begin{document} is
missing and \@maxsep is not defined.
Then, radga.layout was created based on the article. The second line in
the radga.layout reads:
# \DeclareLaTeXClass[article,radga.sty,agu11.sty]{Radio Science camera ready}

After runing Reconfigure, a new document "Radio Science camera ready"
appears in Layout->Document as expected.
The problem however is that the radga.sty does not affect the *.ps file
created by lyx. If I export the document in LaTeX, the *.tex file does not
contain any references to radga.sty either.
What am I doing wrong?

I'm using lyx 1.0.0.
Thank you

1999-09-30 Thread Leonid Belostotski

Hello,
I'm preparing a bibliography using BibTex. I ran in to a problem though.
When I produce .DVI file the following error message appears:

Your field is more than 5000 characters---line 471 of file
file_name.bib
 : TITLE = "{ some title he
 : re}",
I'm skipping whatever remains of this entry
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "L1"
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "T1"
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "V1"
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "G1"

and so on...

Does anybody know what causes this problem? How can I fix it?

Thank you very much.

A problem with a PS file

1999-05-12 Thread Leonid Belostotski

Hello,
I have a problem printing out a document containing the attached PS file.
I inserted the picture into a LYX document the same way I do with other
pictures. LYX shows the picture on the screen correctly, however when I
print the file the picture is missing even though it appears OK when I
preview the document. Normally, I generate pictures with xfig, however
this one was generated under Win95NT by Matlab.
Any ideas why that happens?

Thank you very much

Table/Figure numbering

1999-05-05 Thread Leonid Belostotski

Hello,

It was probably discussed somewhere but I was not able to find it.

For my thesis, each figure/table has to be numbered in the following
fashion: Y-X, where Y is the chapter number and X is the figure number in
the chapter. I need to be able to cross-reference to the table/figure and
the list of figures/tables has to follow the same format.
Is there a way of doing it?

Thank you
