LaTeX Error: No counter 'exercise' defined.
What are the names of Exercise, Theorem and etc. counters?

Problem solved, i looked at the file amsmath-seq.inc and i found the
counter i am looking for call xca.

I just looked, and it should be
\setcounter{xca}{7}
that acutually worked... In general, these things are defined in
/usr/share/lyx/layouts/amsmaths-seq.inc. Sorry for the bad advice earlier.
