But can io do that directly from Lyx. i suppose, you are using lyx older than 1.1.6. choose in layout-document-characterset-pslatex than file-export-postcript in the bottom line shall be a command like ps2pdf ... it's defined in ~/.lyx/lyxrc maybe that your pdf-file is saved in your lyx-temp dir /tmp/lyx...
