Re: Installing and using a new font in Lyx documents?
Oh, never mind, just found out that the stuff I found are just a wrapper for corel fonts which I don't have anyway. I found this files: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/psfonts/corelpak/bodoni/ 1. Open MikTeX's package manager, select the bodoni package, and install it 2. Check to documentation of the font. Here you get the indfos how to use the font. 3. In your document settings, don't select a special font, but use everywhere the standard fonts. 4. add the commands to your document preamble that are given in the font documentation regards Uwe

Thanks for the reply. Uwe Stöhr wrote: 1. Open MikTeX's package manager, select the bodoni package, and install it My problems start with step one. I can't find a bodoni package to install in MikTeX package manager. So I thought (don't know if a good idea or not) I change the repository to ftp://tug.ctan.org, where the font I found is provided (ftp://tug.ctan.org/pub/tex-archive/fonts/psfonts/corelpak/bodoni/) I couldn't do this however, as there seems to be a fixed list of repositories and it was not part of it. So my question: Can I copy the files somewhere manually and do a FNDB database update? If so, which of the files would I need and where should I put them? thanks SK

Install it so that it works with LaTeX. Try to find the documentation that comes with this font file or MikTeX documentation about font issues. 2. Test it with a small latex file. The "Bodoni doc" will (hopefully) give you a clue an the needed command to switch to Bodoni fonts, something like \usepackage{bodoni} Put this with example text in a bodonitest.tex file (or take an existing example) and run through latex. 3. In LyX, open Document>Settings>Fonts and set the fonts to "Default". Now open Document>Settings>LaTeX preamble and insert the font-choosing command. The on-screen fonts will remain unchanged but (if 2. was successful) the printout (DVI, PS, or PDF) will be in Bodoni. GM
Installing and using a new font in Lyx documents?
Dear Lyx Users, I have the following question: how can I install a new font so I can use it in Lyx? I am currently using Lyx 1.5.4 (alt installer) on windows vista with an up-to-date Miktex installation and I want to use a Bodoni font in my documents. I found this files: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/psfonts/corelpak/bodoni/ If these could help me, which do I need, where would I put them and what would I have to do, to get Lyx to find them? Thanks a lot for your help. SK
