I agree, how about creating a page called one of the following

http://www.lyx.org/Examples/Savetrees
http://www.lyx.org/Examples/UsingSavetrees

Ideally you should upload an example .lyx-file (as well as .pdf-output).

PS. I'm sending the upload password separately, but ask in case you run
into problems uploading to the wiki.

Tip: You can refer to this thread from the wiki page by writing e.g.:

That will create a link to this discussion thread, which can be useful on

Hi all,
I've just discovered the savetrees LaTeX package [1] and I whish to
use it in a LyX document.
The trick is, LyX makes LaTeX load the geometry package before any

This is all a matter of loading savetrees before geometry ; when oing
this manually in the LaTeX code, the document compiles just fine.
Is there a way of doing this with LyX ?

If you leave Page Layout and Page Margin all on the default settings,
does LyX still load the geometry package? (This might be document-class
dependent though.)

Well, the problem is, I need custom page width height for this
document. Specifying this via LyX's dialog box triggers the geometry
package.
While this may not be the most frequent case, this is legitimate ; so
in my opinion the solution to this problem should work even in this
case.

 So, as a workaround, do not change the page via LyX's dialog box but
 manually in the Latex Preamble?

That did not the trick.
In the LaTeX output you'll find, in that order:

\documentclass ...
\usepackage{savetrees}
\geometry{...}

and the resulting document **doesn't** have the dimensions specified
by the line beginning with '\geometry'.

A last guess (then I give up):

Set the page layout and margins in LyX, and load savetrees with
\usepackage[normalmargins]{savetrees} (see savetrees.pdf manual).

Wow. Now, that worked fine ! Great !! This will be a real time saver
for me, thanks very much !
