Another possibility (which I recommend) is to upgrade to LyX 2.0. It is stable, has a considerable number of improvements, and switches from Aspell to Hunspell on Windows. Paul

I'm not positive, but I think LyX may be looking for the dictionary in either C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Aspell\Dictionaries or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Aspell\Dictionaries, depending on whether you installed LyX for just yourself or for all users. So you may want to try reinstalling just the dictionary, being careful to specify the same choice of single user vs. all users that you made when installing LyX. I'm not sure where you got your dictionary. If you got it from the Aspell project on SourceForge, it may only install into C:\Aspell. There are dictionaries intended for use with LyX at http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=5117&release_id=12973; I think those will give you a choice where to install them. Hi, I am trying to make Aspell available for LyX. Following the instruction I have installed: - GNU Aspell-0.50.3 (win32) And a Dictionary: - aspell-pl-0.50-2-3.exe Both into C:\Aspell directory. Uwe: Thanks for your interes. Another user solved my problem! In the LyX-Preferences menu, there is a Language setting options. Under spellchecker, selecting Use input encoding solvs the issue. Aspell dictionary not found
Hi! When I try to run the spellchecker I get an error message saying no en_US dictionary could be found. I had Aspell already installed on C:\Aspell before I installed LyXv1.5.0rc2, and spellchecking used to work fine in v1.4.4. I have re-installed the english dictionary (on C:\Aspell), but it did not solve the problem. Any help is welcome! Cheers, Nicolás

I am trying out 1.3.5.1 Lyx, qt taken from SuSe9.3 choosing my own spellchecker file brings up a box where I should enter the file name for my personal dictionary. I enter it and klick on ok, but nothing happens. only klicking on cancel brings me out of the box. Do I so something wrong? Wolfgang
aspell dictionary
Dear all I am trying to use the spellchecker aspell for portuguese(br). The spellchecker runs fine, but the dictionary is awful, it does not recognize almost any word, even the ones that are very common in the Portuguese language. The version of the dictionary is the most recent one (aspell-br-0.50.2). Is there a better aspell dictionary to use?
