Another solution is to put the cursor to the left of the table, and press M-x paragraph-spacing single.

single spacing in table cells
I have a document that is double spaced with about 6 tables. One of the tables is a longtable which spans about 3 pages. This table has 4 columns and 13 rows, each cells has multiple lines.
