The cv.cls needed for LyX is different from the one that is shipped with
the LaTeX-package "cv".

To solve the problem:
- copy the cv.cls you find in LyX's installation subfolder \Resources\tex
somewhere to your LaTeX
installation, e.g. to C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.5\tex\latex or wherever
MiKTeX is installed.
- open MiKTeX's Options (available in Windows' startmenu) and press there
the button "refresh FNDB"
- reconfigure LyX (menu Tools -> Reconfigure)

When you install LyX using this installer:
http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyXWinInstaller

This all is done automatically for you.

regards Uwe

unavailable document class

2007-02-23 Thread Osman Al-Radi

Dear List,

I am working with Lyx 1.4.3-5 on Windows XP. I created a CV using the
document class curriculum vitae from the menu document>settings>class. Now
when I open the document I get a message that the LyX document class (cv) is
not available. I did not change any thing in the setup in the interim. I had
updated to LyX 1.4.4 but went back to LyX 1.4.3-5 when this problem started.

I checked the tools>TeX information menu and cv.cls is present ! but in the
document>settings>class menu it is listed as "unavailable" !

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks

Richard,
questions that may help diagnose the problem:
(a) did you install the "official" package from http://wiki.lyx.org/
LyX/LyXOnMac#Download
(b) was this a clean installation or was there a previous version of
LyX installed?
(c) does latex work from the command line (e.g., type "latex -help"
in Terminal to see if you get a response)

(d) does it help if you run Tools>Reconfigure in LyX?

Jens

Guillaume,

You have first to install the LaTeX class that you want. Then, as
root, run texhash and, afterwards, go to LyX (not as root, now) and
Edit --> Reconfigure. Finally, restart LyX. If the class that you want
has LyX support, then it will become available.

I hope this helps.

Unavailable Document Class

2004-12-08 Thread Guillaume SANTINI
Hello,
I'm a new french lyx user.
I have installed lyx v. 1.3.5 without problems using qt frontend.
Lyx seems to works well, but class's documents remains unvailable in the
Format->Document->Format menu. I search for config files of format class
and i found what i suppose related files in /usr/local/share/lyx/layouts
directory with .inc and .layout extensions.
What did i do wrong? Why these class remains unvailables and unselectables?
Anybody could help me ?

Thanck you
