It's hard to say... I've always found the Model 200 display to be a little
dim. Legibility is very dependent on the display angle versus your eye
height/seating position and any lighting in the room. Overhead lighting
seems to make it harder to read to me.

Also it's a taller display and I don't even find it consistently legible
across the length of the display.

One other thing... when the RS232 port is enabled it definitely gets a bit
dimmer.

All that said, moving around and addressing lighting, I've found it to be
good enough though.

On an M100 the leaking caps can cause a weak -5V which can lead to a dim LCD.
On an M200 there is not a problem with leaking caps and I have noticed no
improvement in the LCD by recapping one. My suspicion is that the LCD was never
that great. I do wonder if the LCD polarizers have aged poorly.

Subject: [M100] M200 dim display

I'm trying to avoid blindly recapping my vintage computers, but I feel like the
display of my M200 is dim, and only gets readable nearly at max contrast.

Are there specific caps to replace (for maybe a dc-dc converter for the
display) that are known to make the LCD better ?

Or maybe other tips ?

PS: I know I'm sending this as html and I apologize. The fact is this is the
only supported format in Synology Mailplus.
