Re: Podcast on using the Notes app and more

2012-05-06 Thread Eric Caron
Hi Catherine,

Thank you for this nice note and the feedback on not talking over Voice
Over. I needed this nice note as I got a bit of negative feedback from a
lister on another list. David Woodbridge does a amazing job. I love listening
to his podcasts. Your comparison to him is a great honor for me. I do work
hard to try to make the podcasts clear and as short as possible. I actually
spend a few hours on even doing a 15 minute podcast.
I like learning from podcasts so once I Feel I've learned something
well enough to share it I try to post one. I really appreciate the podcasters
who post clear concise entries.

thanks again for your feedback. I was wondering if my recent style of
letting voice Over speak more and doing less talking myself was working. It
sounds like it is so I'll keep that up.

If anyone else has constructive criticism for me on my podcast attempts please
send them my way.

Eric Caron

Do you have plaintext only on?
Also, sometimes in imap mode, mail can be configured to only load messages

2012-05-06 Thread Sarah Alawami
You need to wait until they download. if you just hear loading then that's what
's going on. if not then I have no clue as that's the only time it's happened
to me.
Good luck.

Certain mail messages are blank. I know they have text in them, but the Mini

RE: Podcast on using the Notes app and more

2012-05-06 Thread Catherine G
Thanks, Eric. I always appreciate your podcasts because they are clear,
well-planned, and slow enough to absorb. Also, when you are moving around
the application you are demonstrating, you do not talk over the device
voice, so there is no conflict. Although I like David Woodbridge's demos
very much, his voice and VO compete. Thanks again.

Dear , listers,

I combined John André's tips and my use of the Notes app into a 15
minute podcast. It lives at applevis.com. if your interested the link is
below.

The podcast is a walk through of the native Notes app, shows how to set up
preferences in mail to use iCloud, and demonstrates moving text from the
mac to the iPhone and moving it to another app.
I also use selecting of text and pasting so if you have not tried
that yet on the iPhone this might also be a helpful part of the podcast.

I'm wondering what people are using to open .rar files on the Mac. It's
not often that I have to open them, so I really haven't had to think about
this before. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Opening .rar Files

2012-05-06 Thread Thomas McMahan
I use an app called The Unarchiver. There's also Rar Expander, but I prefer
The Unarchiver. Both are free. The Unarchiver works with lion too, don't know
about the other because I used it only with Tiger.

Re: daisy books on an ipad

2012-05-06 Thread Gordon Smith
Hello William

There is an app called "DAISY Worm" for iPad and iPhone. You can use iTunes, I
believe, to transfer your books over to the iPad although I've forgotten
exactly how you do that just at the moment as I'm a bit rusty.
