sharing a calendar.

2012-08-30 Thread Sarah Alawami
Hello to all. I know how to share a calendar using iCloud and the calendar app
on mountain lion. My question is this. Why does it take so long for the
calendar info to be updated. I waited 2 hours for the url to be shown but no
go. Is there an easier way to public calendars on iCloud?

Tc all.

RE: Messages under ML

2012-08-30 Thread Paula Hobley
I haven't duplicated the bug, but I am wondering if it is a bug with
messages. The only reason I say this is that whenever I send a message to
somebody, in my message log, it says that the message I sent was sent from
my cousin's name. A bit strange that it would do that, but I'm living with
it because I figure it's not giving that information to the recipient.

Cheers

Paula

Good evening all.
I think I found a bug in Messages under ML. Please can you duplicate?
I have added my Facebook account to the Messages aapp using the Jabba
protocol. Everything works great overall, no problem! However now and again
it will log me out, for no reason at all! Lol! And get this right? I can't
even log back in unless I log out of my system account and log back in
again. Then I have to click the offline selection popup button, choose
available from the menu, and all is well again until the next time.
Is this a bug with Messages under ML, or a problem with Facebook Chat?
The reason I am mentioning this is I know for a few days now Facebook chat
has been a little unstable. In fact, they went down over the weekend. Also,
if it is a bug with Messages, then we should let Apple Accessibility know.
Thanks so much if you can duplicate the above. This will be greatly
appreciated.
Chris.

Haven't tried it yet, but my facebook crashed in Adium last night a couple of
times. So it might be a problem with them. Didn't know we could integrate
facebook and messages yet, glad glad to see someone trying.

Hi,

Just a clarification here.

In iTunes, you can't option-click the "Restore" button when VoiceOVer is on. It
doesn't give you the desired dialog if you option-click the button with
VoiceOVer on. I'm not quite sure why as I haven't delved deeper into this
issue, but Apple does know of it.

Re: option clicking a button with VO

2012-08-30 Thread Sarah Alawami
I only turn off vo in the iTunes thing when option clicking the restore button
as that's about the only way i could get it to work. I can option click other
places though. In some dialogues you nut turn off vo in order for the option
click, or the control click to be registered. Have a play with some stuff and
you will quickly learn which ones. lol!

Be blessed.

Thanks Ann, I assume this also holds true for Control clicking. Is it
necessary to turn VO off before clicking, or is it sufficient to simply turn
off Trackpad commander? Sarah's message seemed to indicate it was necessary
to turn off VO (Command F5).

Hello Phil,

Using VoiceOver, a simulated mouse click is VO-Shift-Space bar. You can do
an actual mouse click by pressing down on the trackpad. You have to have
Trackpad Commander turned off to be able to click with the trackpad.

In VoiceOver Utility, under Verbosity, I always check the "Speak text
under mouse after delay" check box. This lets me know should I
accidentally move the mouse when touching the trackpad.

So, an Option-Click can be done by routing the mouse to where the
Option-Click should be done, then holding down the Option key and pressing
the trackpad.

I regularly get a contextual menu by holding down the Control key and
clicking with the trackpad as I find it more reliable than VO-Shift-m.

Re: option clicking a button with VO

2012-08-30 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Phil,

Using VoiceOver, a simulated mouse click is VO-Shift-Space bar. You can do an
actual mouse click by pressing down on the trackpad. You have to have Trackpad
Commander turned off to be able to click with the trackpad.

In VoiceOver Utility, under Verbosity, I always check the "Speak text under
mouse after delay" check box. This lets me know should I accidentally move the
mouse when touching the trackpad.

So, an Option-Click can be done by routing the mouse to where the Option-Click
should be done, then holding down the Option key and pressing the trackpad.

I regularly get a contextual menu by holding down the Control key and clicking
with the trackpad as I find it more reliable than VO-Shift-m.

Cheers,

Anne

I would imagine that many of us are in the same situation. I'm with AT&T,
and purchased my iPhone 4S the day it came out last October. It's less than
a year old, and of course I had to sign another 2-year contract at the time.
So, if the new iPhone does come out in the next several months, I won't yet
be due for an upgrade.

That being said, I am very happy with my 4S. The new phone would have to
have something phenomenal that I wouldn't want to be without in order for me
to get it before my 2 years are up, as my current phone is in warranty until
then.

So, though I do like to have the latest, in the case of the iPhone I'm
content to wait.

Re: option clicking a button with VO

2012-08-30 Thread Phil Halton
I am quite new to the Mac and would like to ask, exactly how is the "click"
performed? I mean, you say route the mouse to VO, turn off VO and then do an
option click, but you don't say how to perform the click. Are you using an
actual mouse, a trackpad? I don't have a mouse, just a trackpad, so how
exactly would I do the "click"?

Thank you in advance for being exact in your answer.

Thanks Sarah that was the method I knew, but like William in a subsequent
post I've found it not entirely reliable. I'll file a bug report /feature
request with Apple about it.

with voiceover? Can't for the life of me remember.

Re: A Dilemma

2012-08-30 Thread Marcy Weinberg
I would imagine that many of us are in the same situation. I'm with AT&T, and
purchased my iPhone 4S the day it came out last October. It's less than a year
old, and of course I had to sign another 2-year contract at the time. So, if
the new iPhone does come out in the next several months, I won't yet be due for
an upgrade.

That being said, I am very happy with my 4S. The new phone would have to have
something phenomenal that I wouldn't want to be without in order for me to get
it before my 2 years are up, as my current phone is in warranty until then.

So, though I do like to have the latest, in the case of the iPhone I'm content
to wait.
