Re: safari and downloading pdf

2013-02-05 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Yeah I looked at the html and it's all a mess. no link to the power point file.
I'm guessing it's the same with you and the html code in the pdf file you are
trying to grab?

Take care.

Re: gmail settings on IPhone

2013-02-05 Thread Glenn
That is not an iMap or POP3 difference, they both offer the opportunity to
remove from server.
You just want to find the setting that says do not delete after downloading
messages.

Subject: Re: gmail settings on IPhone

Hi Jim.

the reason for your problem is that the iPhone now sets up Gmail as
IMap by default, which I find annoying too. IMap, basically downloads
all the mail to the phone or computer that has that setting, and when
the emails are deleted, they are automatically deleted from the
server. The only way to avoid this I found, was to disconnect the
iPhone from any network, so that it couldn't connect to the internet,
then set up the email account again with POP3. Another way that might
help, is to synchronise your email settings from your PC with the use
of iTunes. If you use Microsoft Outlook, you can synchronise your PC's
email settings, by going into iTunes, selecting the "Info"
Radiobutton, and ticking the box that says Sync my Email accounts,
selecting Gmail from the list of accounts set up on your PC, then
clicking the Apply button. It is the same if you use the Mac version
of iTunes, which I prefer.
Hope this helps to answer your question.
Regards.
lewis.

Re: safari and downloading pdf

2013-02-05 Thread Dónal Fitzpatrick
There might be a setting withing Acrobat that someone needs to change which
says "don't open this file in safari". I remember that on the *cough* other
side of the great computing divide, the one we don't mention, that was how it
used to work.

Built into the mac is Preview though which usually works fine. Failing that
there is always Skim.

Re: audio books in itunes

2013-02-05 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Each book let's say from a cd you rip or what ever is from a few mb to a few
gigs in size depending on quality and number of hours the file is. and icloud
remember only comes with 5 gigs free. My books folder in my own iTunes library
is over 10 to 15 gigs. so in this case I don't want a 200 gig iCloud back up
because I read a lot. lol!

Take care.

Hi Sarah and Douglas,

Just out of curiosity have you tried opening the HTML in something like
Textedit and viewing the source? There just might be a direct link to the PDf
inside.

Just a thought.

Some universities don't allow this. I'm having the same issue with a power

they can email you the thing and you can read it.

Re: gmail settings on IPhone

2013-02-05 Thread Lewis Crack
Hi Jim.

the reason for your problem is that the iPhone now sets up Gmail as
IMap by default, which I find annoying too.
Regards.
lewis.
