Re: for those wanting the iPhone gps application from seeing eye

Hi.

I hate it when it takes a while for the app to be released in the UK.
It's annoying how the UK and US have a different App Store. That GPS
App does sound good though!
Cheers.

Re: GPS on iPhone without data plan

2013-02-27 Thread Travis Siegel
We have no data plan on our cell phones. In fact, our iphones don't
even have cell service, but the gps programs still work. We tried
the one that comes with the iphone, called maps, and it worked just
fine. I'm not sure how accessible it is, as I myself didn't try it,
but if there's another accessible program (I've not tried any yet) I
suspect it would work just as well.

So yeah, the only exception is if you download an app which makes

Re: safe mode and voiceover

2013-02-27 Thread Lewis Crack
Hi all,

This does sound interesting. I've never had to boot my Mac up in Safe
Mode, but I can see why it wouldn't load any sound drivers, and so on.
The exact same is said for the other OS. I normally usually use
recovery mode to try and get me out of situations like these, although
Safe Mode/Single User Mode would be better as it gives you more
control of the system such as changing partitions, etc. have you tried
repairing Disk Permissions in Recovery Mode?
That may fix it. I would think that partitioning the disk would work,
no matter what type of disk is used, e.g SATA, SSD, etc, although as
James said, it has to be in MSDos (NTFS) format, as the other OS
doesn't like FAT32, and unfortunately BootCamp doesn't format the
drive in NTFS, but in FAT32, meaning that the user has to format it
themselves again during the other OS setup.
Sorry for the long email, but I'm finding the topic interesting!
Hope these tips lead you in the right direction!
Regards.
Lewis.

Re: safe mode and voiceover

2013-02-27 Thread JAMES AUSTIN
Hi John,

You're right, in SUM, VO does not load. I woner if there would be a way of
installing SpeakUP or some other flavour of a Linux/UNIX Screen Reader given
that OS X is built on and is UNIX compliant. But I think that might be outside
of the scope of this list.

When you are in Save Mode, nothing but the bare essentials load. This is done

interface, and,a again, I don't believe VO loads.

2013-02-27 Thread Sarah k Alawami
huh? No you don't need to do that. just create the partition in the boot camp
utility in the utilities folder, hit space on continue and then ask for sited
help as when the cd boots up you have to go to advanced then format and have
them choose ntms on the partition that boot camp will be installed on.From
there it should be pretty straight forward.

Take care.

Re: safe mode and voiceover

2013-02-27 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
I just need to figure out what kext files have to be loaded and how in
terminal to do so. Give me some time. It may take a day or so for me to
figure this one out, as this is a tuffy, but I'll do what I can, no promises
though.

I believe, that if I'm correct, that when safemode is enabled, OS 10
only uses what it needs to boot up, and does not boot up any sound
drivers or anything like that.

Re: safe mode and voiceover

2013-02-27 Thread JAMES AUSTIN
Hi Will,

I think I read somewhere that although sound drivers are not loaded in safe
mode, a Braille Display should work with VO. I could have imagined reading this
though.

Also, I am not sure if your problems are due exclusively to the fact that you
have an SSD? I would think that there are plenty of folks who have an SSD drive
in their Macs running something other than OS X. If this is exclusively an SSD
issue though hopefully it will get sorted.

Out of interest, have you tried booting into a bootable back up of OS X and
then tried partitioning your drive with an MS DOS partition?

Take care

Hi Will,

You're explanation is not very helpful. What exactly are you trying to move and
how are you trying to do it? Under which OS?

If you could provide us with a little more information, we might be more able
to help.

Hope all is well apart from that.

itunes

2013-02-27 Thread Karen Burgess
hi everyone

i'm fairly new to the mac but getting there slowly, i do have some questions
about iTunes and how it behaves.

firstly, i have a load of music on an iPod touch, as i understand it, if i plug
the iPod in to my mac here i will lose all the music if i let it sink with the
iTunes? is there a way of getting all the stuff off the iPod and putting it in
the iTunes library on my macbook pro?

secondly, if i want different music on different devices is there a way to do
this? for example i have an iPhone and and iPod touch, i used to sink them on
different computers but can i have them both using the 1 iTunes library and
choose what i put on each?

lastly, if i store music on my macbook pro and import it in to my iTunes
library but its still in the music folder does that mean there are 2 copies on
the system?

worm-free. However, this should in no way replace your own security strategy.
We assume neither liability nor responsibility should something unpredictable
