Hi Chris

You said nothing wrong. I meant that I wasn't amused regarding Apple's

Re: Navigating to mages o webpages

2013-04-23 Thread Catherine Turner
Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look at that. The interesting
thing is, using a different screenreader I can pick up on the images.
I realise this list is for discussing Mac which is why I didm't
mention that in the first place. It just made me wonder whether there
was some other way of getting VO to pick up on the images.

Thanks,
Catherine

The site is very easy to navigate and use.

It sounds like this is more instructions on how to add!, not remove voices.

Re: voices to remove if not used

2013-04-23 Thread Isaac Hebert
Using Finders great “Go to Folder” feature of Command+Shift+G enter
the following path:
/System/Library/Speech/Voices/
You’ll see a list of voices, but notice they come in two formats:
Voice and VoiceCompact, you can keep VoiceCompact because those are
just the short samples, it’s the Voice.SpeechVoice you want to delete
to remove the full voice.
Remove Voices from OS X Lion
For a quick example we’ll get rid of Samantha – sorry Samantha, you
sound lovely but you take up too much space – so we will be deleting
Samantha.SpeechVoice. Select that folder and either drag it to the
Trash or hit Command+Delete to place it there automatically. Because
the voice files are contained in /System/ you will need to
authenticate with the administrator password in order to delete the
file, so type that in, then you can empty the Trash. No more Samantha!

Re: Best Braille Display To Use With iOS

2013-04-23 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Isaac,

I've had no success connecting my Handytech Braillino with my iPhone despite
the fact that it is one that is supposed to work. I asked Apple about it and
they sent me to Handytech who suggested I should get the Bluetooth chip
changed. My Braillino works fine with my MacBook Air and I could pair it with
my husband's 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina.

I think other Handytech models work better.

Cheers,

Anne

Unsubscribing From A Podcast In Downcast

2013-04-23 Thread Desi Noller
Hi Everybody,

If I decide I no longer want to receive a particular podcast, what is the way
to unsubscribe when in the downcast app on my iPhone? Do I use the edit
function and simply delete it from my podcast list, or is there another way to
do it that is better? Thanks for any help with this!

There are a couple of things you can do. If you want to unsubscribe and remove
all episodes yes, double tap edit and delete the podcast there or you can
double tap and hold on the podcast until you here the tritone and then slide
your finger to the left or right and when you lift off a confirmation to delete
the podcast will appear to the right of the podcast. Alternatively you can
double tap on the podcast, go into settings and turn off auto refresh feed and
no more episodes will download but you will still keep the podcast and any
remaining episodes. Good if you don't want more episodes but want to keep some.

Re: Unsubscribing From A Podcast In Downcast

2013-04-23 Thread Danny Noonan
Each podcast episode you download will take up space but the size of your
phone, the amount, length, bitrait and weather the episodes are audio or video
all determine what you decide to keep or delete.

You can see the size of a podcast episode by double tapping the details button
for the episode and swiping to the right. You can also double tap the more tab
on the bottom right of the main screen and swipe to see how many episodes you
have downloaded, how much space they take up and how much free space remains on
your device.

You can double tap edit within a podcast feed and select episodes to delete and
then double tap actions and select delete to remove those episodes or
alternatively you can simply double tap and hold on any episode until a beep
and select delete episode.

Lastly you can double tap on settings within a podcast feed and double tap
episodes to keep and in there you have lots of options for what to delete and
when.
If you have any specific questions just let me know. Downcast is very powerful
and flexible but many don't know all it can do or how to use the options to
make it do what they want it too.

I tend to download more than stream if their episodes I may want to listen to
more than once, keep for reference or want to be able to listen too on the
road. Mind you, we don't have great 3G down here so this does make a difference

streaming multiple times.

Glad I could help.

Sonos app experiences?

2013-04-23 Thread Geoff Waaler
Greetings,

Recently, I noticed an apparent price reduction on the Sonos Play:5. Well, if
memory serves, it was over $100 higher on Amazon previously.

Anyway, on another list I recall reading rave reviews about the Sonos app,
however this Nov 2012 blog entry from Neil Barnfather presents a different
picture.

Is anyone out there using a Sonos, and if so, have they made any progress on
the IOS app?

TIA for any/all input and best regards.
Geoff

As the Mac Access Dot Net administrators, we do our very best to ensure that
the Mac-Access E-Mal list remains malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and
worm-free. However, this should in no way replace your own security strategy.
We assume neither liability nor responsibility should something unpredictable
happen.
