 Hi Gordon,
My point was that this behavior is a unique problem with the installer app in
particular, and does not seem to occur with other Mac App Store downloads. I
mean to say that any other app downloaded from the store can be executed

 is closed.
 Best,

 Dear Gordon,
In my experience, this removal of apps you failed to execute only applies
to this one installer. I don't know why they made this decision, but I've
exited the store plenty of times and not had problems before. That said, my
setup is very simple, I already have a full version of Mountain Lion, so
 don't need the installer.
 Just wanted to clarify,

No, sorry, this isn't quite right. When you download applications for the

Official Assistant List Controllers Now In Place

2013-04-24 Thread Gordon, Lynne Tracy

I have great pleasure in being able to announce that Zachary Cline and Roger
Firman are now assistant list controllers of this group. Roger and Zach very
kindly offered a couple of weeks ago but this has been the first free day I've
had to do anything about it.

I hope that one other will be joining shortly. But I need to confer with that
person before I announce their identity. Once again though, welcome Zach and
Roger. I will update the list guidelines documents accordingly shortly.

MacBook Air: Light, flexible and simply beautiful!

2013-04-24 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi all

For about a week or so now I have been using the new MacBook Air computer which
Lynne bought for me when we paid our first visit to our local Apple store. The
machine itself is pure gold! It's light, easy to use and has the most
fantastic keyboard action I've ever seen on a MacBook of any kind.

Its backlit keyboard makes it easy to use for Lynne, and I just love the touch
sensitive multi-trackpad. I have the 13-inch 256GB model and one of the best
features of this thing is the lack of a clunky old hard drive. Apple has gone
over to using flash media instead of a hard drive in its portable models and
the change alone is well worth the upgrade. From power-on, the machine takes
about 8 seconds to being up and ready to use with VO. It's a breeze, I cannot
speak highly enough of this machine.

Kind regards

I type pretty hard and rather fast at times, and I've seen a macbook air this
year, and honestly those things look so flimsy ... I've got a macbook air from
last year which is nice. It's got a nice sized hard drive as well in terms of
the storage space. I can barely hear either of my macs though unless I'm
practically on top of them since they're so quiet.

Gordon,

How do you find the volume output on the headphone jack? This is one of the
reasons I am scared to ditch my trusty 5 year old iMac, as the volume output is
so nice and loud, and worry the Air might not match. Otherwise, I think my
iMac will end up being replaced with an Air.

folders in documents witch requires a lot of going back and forward between
windows.
if i'm in a folder on my exturnal drive i coppy the file, hit VO d for desktop
and go to the folder to coppy the file.
how do i go back to the exturnal drive finder window without having' to re open
it all again.
when i have coppyed files i use the window chooser to go back to the other
fineder window but it's never there.
i hope i'm making some sence.

2013-04-24 Thread Christian Schoepplein
Hi,

I brefere the Macboo, Pro, because some hardware can be replaced without
problems. For example I've replaced the hard disk by a flash drive from
Samsung, which was much cheeper then the flash drive Apple puts into the
Macbook. With an Air no manual hardware replacement is possible.

But both devicees are nice, no question :-).

Regards,

  Christian

Re: a question about fineder

2013-04-24 Thread Zachary Kline
Hi Michael,
Here's a couple tips.
cmd-n, on your desktop, will open a new Finder window. cmd-grave-accent, the
key next to the number 1, will move between Windows in the same app. If you
keep the windows open between copies, you can use this to be pretty efficient.
What's happening for you is that you're replacing the existing Finder window
every time, which isn't ideal.
Best,
Zack.

Filling Out PDF's On The Mac

2013-04-24 Thread Earle
Can anyone recommend a good app for filling out pdf forms on the Mac or on an
iPhone? I know this has been brought up before but I never had to do this on
the Mac, so never paid attention. Is this even possible on the Mac or iPhone?
Any info would be appreciated.

 Hi all

For about a week or so now I have been using the new MacBook Air computer

the most fantastic keyboard action I've ever seen on a MacBook of any kind.

Its backlit keyboard makes it easy to use for Lynne, and I just love the
touch sensitive multi-trackpad. I have the 13-inch 256GB model and one of
the best features of this thing is the lack of a clunky old hard drive.
Apple has gone over to using flash media instead of a hard drive in its
portable models and the change alone is well worth the upgrade. From
power-on, the machine takes about 8 seconds to being up and ready to use
with VO. It's a breeze, I cannot speak highly enough of this machine.

Re: Filling Out PDF's On The Mac

2013-04-24 Thread Zachary Kline
Dear Earl,
Regrettably, I don't know of a suitable way to do this. PDF support on the Mac
is kind of lackluster at the moment, at least with voiceover, and it is a
failing I hope Apple will address. In the meantime, I am unfortunately forced
to use another operating system to fill them out.
Best,
Zack.

Can anyone recommend a good app for filling out pdf forms on the Mac or on an

iPhone? Any info would be appreciated.

Question about new mac book pro and accounts

2013-04-24 Thread Matthew C
Hello all. I just got my refurbed mac book pro today. I am just happy I was
able to get it on my network. Ok here is the question. When I got it it
didn't have me set anything up and it is set as admin. How do I put in my
apple ID and password so that it will know what account to use? For instance
when I send a message it doesn't show me my contact list or anything. Do I
need to start over from scratch or is there any way to do this? Thanks for
any help.

Matt

Re: Sonos app experiences?

2013-04-24 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi Geoff.

I have a sonos system. It is accessible enough on the IPhone app, I will not
claim about that. My only problem is that the mac version is not that
accessible, some of it is, but you can not control your music sources, and find
music in your music library with the mac app. But the IOS app is quite
accessible, it has been improved, with the IOS app you can choose music source
and choose what to play from your music library or wimp, spotify or which
streaming service you will like to use.
.

Best regards Annie.

 Greetings,

Recently, I noticed an apparent price reduction on the Sonos Play:5. Well,
if memory serves, it was over $100 higher on Amazon previously.

Anyway, on another list I recall reading rave reviews about the Sonos app,
however this Nov 2012 blog entry from Neil Barnfather presents a different
 picture.

Is anyone out there using a Sonos, and if so, have they made any progress on
 the IOS app?

TIA for any/all input and best regards.

Re: MacBook Air: Light, flexible and simply beautiful!

2013-04-24 Thread Sarah k Alawami
lol. Yeah maybe, but I can still use a dynamic coil to her flash. A friend did
it and knew when flash was being written to my flash card in my recorded. I
like to know when drive are failing and you can hear that. You cannot I don't
think can hear flash. unless the beeps in the pattern of the coil sound changes.

Truthfully I'm very scared of SSD drives as flash and me don't' get along I
corrupt at least 2 or 3 flash pen drives every 10 or so months. and these are
top model Sandisc drives.

I do have a magnetic imbalance in my body so that might explain a lot. obsolete
for loud and noisy? Maybe but because of said imbalance I'm afraid to even get
near a mbp unless I'm waring gloves.

I'd love to try one as long as I don't have any partt come in contact with my
skin. I know I'm od but I know one other person who is like this.
