Re: Using Pages With Mac and iOS

2013-07-16 Thread Daniela Rubio
Hello:
I use Pages in both platforms and it just works fine. The only thing, is that
when you edit a document in mac and you include certain paragraph stiles, those
stiles can not be viewed in Pages for iOS. But it doesn't really matter, as the
document it self doesn't change.
I find this really useful, because I use my iPad a lot of times during meetings
and I love to have my info updated on the go.

Braven 650 Premium Bluetooth Speaker System

2013-07-16 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi!

I've ordered one of these and I hope to have it by the end of the week so I'll
be able to write a mini review on the product.

The Braven 650 system is supposed to be far better than the Jawbone Jambox and
that product wasn't bad except for its absolutely dreadful hands free speaker
phone feature, the other fact that stopped me using it was its Bluetooth
compatibility, the Jambox isn't - as far as I know - compatible with Bluetooth
4.0 devices such as the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy etc, Bluetooth 4.0 provides
superior bandwidth to previous Bluetooth versions and it can be used without
problems for dictation, Siri and the like.

The developers of the Braillesense have done the deaf-blind user a huge favor,
all Sense models come with built-in vibrating motors for example so they can be
put to good use for all sorts of things to help those who are hard at hearing.

Hi!

I have a Voicesense so can't comment directly right now until I add a
Braille display to it which will be later on this year.

I can say however that I asked this very question to the dealer who sold
me the Voicesense and he said that the unit will work without any problems
with an IOS device, a Mac machine etc.

If you have any further questions then you may consider getting in touch
with Hims Inc themselves.

Good luck! and I'm sure you won't be at all disappointed if you purchase
the achine, I really like my Voicesense, won't go into it here obviously
but the maine reason I like the machine is the inovation shown by the
company with the built-in apps.

OK, on this screen, locate the mute button. Don't double tap it, just
use that as a home base. Now flick left one time from here. You'll here
the duration of your call. Here's the magic. Double tap on that call
counter. Now, you will see all of your calls and two options to the right
of them. The first says end call, and the second says start private call.

If you hit end call on the party you wish to hang up on, you'll then see
the typical confirm end call. Double tap again, to select the confirm
button, and boom! sweet dreams and nighty night.

way call and someone falls asleep and starts to snore or something. is
there a way under ios6 to drop that snoring person with out dropping the

Re: how to drop someone in a 3 way call

2013-07-16 Thread Chris Gilland

OK Sarah, here is what to do.

When you are on your active call screen, make sure that your keypad is
hidden. You want to see the 6 options like mute, keypad, speaker/audio
source, add call, Facetime and contacts.

OK, on this screen, locate the mute button. Don't double tap it, just use
that as a home base. Now flick left one time from here. You'll here the
duration of your call. Here's the magic. Double tap on that call counter.
Now, you will see all of your calls and two options to the right of them.
The first says end call, and the second says start private call.

If you hit end call on the party you wish to hang up on, you'll then see the
typical confirm end call. Double tap again, to select the confirm button,
and boom! sweet dreams and nighty night.

For those on audio boo I did ask this on there to. Let's say I'm in a 3
way call and someone falls asleep and starts to snore or something. is
there a way under ios6 to drop that snoring person with out dropping the 3
way call totally?

Take care all and be blessed.

Re: iTunes media on external drive

2013-07-16 Thread Esther
Hi Doug,

I've written out instructions for this a few times, so I just used the public
mail archive link that appears at the bottom of each post to access our list
archives, typed "consolidate library" into the text box, and pressed return.
The first link in the listed results gives my answering post when Gordon asked
about relocating his iTunes Media folder content last fall:
• Re: iTunes Media folder
http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/msg12950.html

The reply details how you need to proceed, and points to another post that
gives an iLounge article that explains not only how this is done, but how the
organization of the iTunes database works:
• Transferring your iTunes Library:
http://bit.ly/yhmVQk

Read throughout the linked posts, then read the linked iLounge article to fill
in the background details.

This will tell you how you can relocate your music onto a different hard drive.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Hello all,

I'm curious about the way the iPhone5 reads pdf files. When I can't read
a pdf file on my computer or convert it to text or anything, lately, I've
tried it on my iPhone5. I got a cookbook that said:

Flash"

it couldn't red it.

Now, are there pdf to text converters for the iPhone?

Can prismo read these and if so, how do we make it read these pdf files?

Thanks in advance.

Oops! I forgot one more question. How then, do we transfer the files that we
convert to text, from the iPhone to the PC?

Now, this time, for sure, thanks in advance,

Brenda

Using Pages With Mac and iOS

2013-07-16 Thread Desi Noller
Good Afternoon,

Is anybody using Pages on their iMac and an iOS device to transfer files? I
know I have asked a lot of Dropbox questions lately, but it occurred to me that
there might be another way to do what I want to do. I sing in my church choir,
and have a lot of words to choir Anthems stored on my Mac. Now that I no
longer have a dedicated Braille NoteTaker, I am using my Brailliant BI 40 with
a Bluetooth connection to my iPod Touch 4th generation. I would like to work
with my documents on both devices. I don't currently have Pages on my iMac or
my iPod, but if people have worked with it successfully in this way, I would
buy it for both. Please let me know your experiences!

Hi Everyone,

As I mentioned recently, I received a Brailliant BI 40 last Friday, and my
purpose in getting it was to use it with both my iMac and iOS devices. I
plugged it into my iMac via USB cable, and Braille showed up right away, so
that was excellent! However, when I went to check my mail, I had trouble
navigating the messages table. So, my question is this. Since when using
VoiceOver speech we must interact with tables, how do we do this when using
a Braille display? Any assistance with this would be most appreciated!
Thanks!

READING HELP DOCS

2013-07-16 Thread Carol
Hi all,

I realise I really need to get to grips with reading the Help items but, how
does one do that when you're just going round in circles and don't understand
just what you're doing?

I do hope someone will give me an example of getting to and then proceeding to
read various Help files.

Yes, I can get into Help but then may read a first link but can't seem to
follow the Help through and get lost in a lot of fog.

To get this bit right would surely help my understanding and therefore getting
around the Mac.

Today I managed to change a music item in my library into a podcast, as that
is what it is, but then I just couldn't locate it and was lost again.

I hope someone can help here. Thanks!

Subject: questions regarding pdf files on iPhone5

Brenda

Please stay on topic for this group. Yes, you could argue that you wanted to
know how it would work with an Apple device. But nowhere in the below messages
was that even eluded too. Therefore, it should have been on our sister group,

Re: Now What Has Apple Found To Break In iTunes?

2013-07-16 Thread Gordon Smith
In conclusion I can really say only this. The more options which do work that
we have available, the better it must be. I'm having another problem actually.
I'm trying to add an album to the "Up Next" tab. But when I press enter on
the album name, where it says "Add to Up Next", I'm just place into an album
grid, and I haven't got a clue where the album went. I dare say there is some
logic to this, but at the moment it escapes me. I guess it's just another of
those things which, if you know how it works, is fine. I'm not saying this one
is a bug, or even that it's broken. I'm just saying that I am puzzled by the
change.

Kind regards

 Hi all

OK, I have some books which I would like to add to a playlist. So, I do
as I've always done, select all of the books I want to add, then press the
button for New Playlist from Selection. I'm prompted to enter a name for
the playlist, which I duly insert. Low and behold, my playlist is totally
 empty.

I sometimes wonder whether Apple is just changing things to make people
think they are being innovative. Why fix what isn't broken? Honestly,
this really is making me think I'd be better off using a networked media
server, (we already have the hardware), and just use VLC or something like
 that which actually works.

 Kind regards
