Re: pro audio editing on mac.

2013-08-07 Thread Dónal Fitzpatrick
Hi Sarah,

Well actually, given the quality of the work you produce (I've heard plenty of
the podcasts) if you use Garage band and Amadeus, then that says enough for me.
The kind of thing I want to do is some post production on CDs and the like so
I might just give Garage Band and Amadeus a whirl (given I already own them
anyway) and see where it takes me.

Cheers,

Dónal

2013-08-07 Thread Josh Gregory
Actually, I think the things that are deleted from the trash are stored in some
sort of directory until the space taken up by the deleted items is used up
again.

Re: recovering space on macbook air

2013-08-07 Thread Artie!

This topic was part of our class at the Lighthouse for the V/I and Blind in
Port Richey on Monday. Linda uses one of their desktop Apples, and I bring
my own laptop and my own keyboard. We purposely created new folders and
new files within, and purposely sent them to Trash. As those were for
learning purposes only, we went through the *Empty the Trash procedure.
The Trash is bytes of information -- taking up space in the computer. When
the Trash is emptied, everything goes into cyberspace and is not
recoverable. Thus, the trash file folder has zero in it. When the emptying
procedure is completed, which is not instantly, there is a sound like a
paper bag being crunched.

Yesterday at home Linda went to empty the Trash from her desktop
computer, and something was stuck, like locked in, and would not go out
into cyberspace. She played with whatever she did, and got it freed up and
out.

   Hope this helps. Artie.

Hi,
Has anyone here successfully gotten ole aria to work?
I installed it yesterday and when I hit command o to open it nothing happens.
If this doesn't work, are there any other options for reading daisy files on
the mac?
thanks,
Cait

pro audio editing on mac.

2013-08-07 Thread Dónal Fitzpatrick
Hi folks,

I'm going to try to write an optimistic post but I sense it's not going to
happen :-)

I've been given a present by a mate of mine of an Apogee Duet 2. It's one of
these long-term loan things. Now the only audio editor I have is Amadeus. I'd
like to purchase something a bit better. You see, this is all good right?

HEre's the bad bit though. It seems Logic Pro X isn't entirely accessible.
Apple Accessibility, in a departure from recent form, actually sent me an email
that seemed to have some human creativity in it. They tell me that there will
be a VPAT for Logic Pro X available soon. Protools 11 has regressed in terms of
accessibility (or so I've heard) and version 10 requires Lion. I don't have a
machine running Lion so that screws that one up. So does anyone have other
ideas? There's always Garage band but let's face it that's not really in the
same league.

Thoughts welcome.
