Navigating the search results table in Get Iplayer

2013-08-17 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

I did a search for Desert Island Discs, a radio 4 programme in the UK. I got
over 1600 results. This is great, but is there a way to quickly navigate this
table to find a show I want to download, or do I have to laboriously arrow
through the table to find the shows I want? Certainly first letter navigation
doesn't work in this kind of table -

Selecting and deleting text help please

Re: trying to upgrade from the free version to the full version of Braille Touch

2013-08-17 Thread Chris H
Ok to upgrade BrailleTouch double tap on the upgrade button in the menu,
confirm by double tapping on the buy button, then enter the password
associated with your Apple Id. This is the tricky bit as the device will
still be in landscape therefore affecting the on-screen keyboard which
you must use to enter your credentials. The Braille keyboard will not be
available in this case and even if it was the free version will not let
you copy text anyway.

we were asked to do our Apple ID Password, we were to do that with the

Also, if we do it with the braille keyboard, do we have to have the

Hi!
Adding the option key so option+left arrow will go back word by word option
+delete will remove word by word, and shift+option+arrow's will select or
deselect word by word!
And if you might like to know and you have the FN key adding that you can
forward delete IE. FN+delete! will forward delete letter by letter! and option
added will do word by word!

2013-08-17 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Andy,

Once text is selected, pressing Delete will delete all the selected text. You
can also select text then either copy it with Cmd-c or Cut it with Cmd-x and
paste it elsewhere with Cmd-v.

As for spell checking, Cmd-Semicolon allows you to step through the document
one misspelt word at a time which is the way I like to do it.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Selecting and deleting text. help please.

2013-08-17 Thread Andy Collins
Hi Anne -

I was having problems selecting a single word, or couple of words to delete
from the middle of a sentence. Yes, I could delete them character by character,
but wanted to be able to simply select the whole word, or several words, and
delete them. What was happening was that when I held down the shift key and
used the arrow keys to select, I was getting more text than I wanted, selected
for deletion.

As for using CMD Semicolon for spell checking, all that this seems to do for
me, is to remove the misspelled word from the text. Clearly I'm doing something
wrong with this method of spell checking. I don't get to see a word list of
possible replacements, and I have tried hitting both return and tab, but get
the same result, namely the misspelled word is removed. At least using CMD and
shift with Semicolon, I do see some familiar options, such as skip and learn
word [which is the same as the Windows add to dictionary option] as well as a
word list. Unfortunately, this way doesn't seem to allow for skipping through
the mistakes and correcting them one after another, it appears you have to come
out of the spell checking, and go in to it again with the next mistake -

Opening a password protected document

2013-08-17 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

I have a Windows password protected document. I know the password, but can't
find a way on my Macbook to enter the password to open it. Can this be done or
do I need to use a Windows machine? -

Hello Jonathan,

You have to bring the mouse to the VO cursor with VO-Cmd-F5 before doing the
mouse click. Otherwise, you just bring the focus to wherever the mouse happens
to be.

Cheers,

Re: trying to upgrade from the free version to the full version ofBraille Touch

2013-08-17 Thread meadowlark77
Would it be just as simple to uninstall and install the full version to
begin with? That is very very tricky doing it like this. Not only that, but
the braille keyboarde is available for me. In that case, then, I will have
to put those number signs in and won't that make extracharacters?

Thanks in advance,

Ok to upgrade BrailleTouch double tap on the upgrade button in the menu,
confirm by double tapping on the buy button, then enter the password
associated with your Apple Id. This is the tricky bit as the device will
still be in landscape therefore affecting the on-screen keyboard which
you must use to enter your credentials. The Braille keyboard will not be
available in this case and even if it was the free version will not let
you copy text anyway.

Re: trying to upgrade from the free version to thefullversionofBraille Touch

2013-08-17 Thread meadowlark77
I finally got it in there. It's kind of weird, having to write like that and
hit the regular keyboard. Something getting used to. I have no problem
typing on the keyboard to the way the brailler goes.

Alright, then. I've got it. Thanks.

Take care,

Brenda

Hi Brenda,
I suspect that it will get translated if you use the number signs.
Can't you give it a try?

Chris, the braille keyboard is what's available. So, then, now, my question
is do we put the number signs in before the numbers? Won't that make extra
characters?

Take care,

Brenda

system default volume at startup

2013-08-17 Thread don bishop

Hi all,

I'm using an imac and really like it so far, but do havquestions.

Is there a default startup volume setting somewhere? I know about the
one in the vo utility, but after turning the volume down, the next time
I start the system the music blares out again. And, so does vo when it
comes on.

Thanks,

Don

In my personal experience, and this may differ as I am using a laptop, You need
to try to turn the system volume down by pressing the F11 and F12 keys. If
you've got it configured a different way, you may need to press the function
key With these keys.

Hi,

I did use the f11 key to turn the volume down, but maybe I also have to
press it with the fn key to make it stick. I'll try that.

Thanks,

Don

No… That will perform a different function if if pressing F11 by itself works.
It looks like you have your function keys said to Perform software functions.

can we make folders in Voice Dream?

2013-08-17 Thread meadowlark77
Hello all,

Can we make folders in Voice Dream? Ihave a bunch of recipes that people
have given me and they are in .rtf format. Well, I put them in, but dropbox
would only download one file at a time, and, of course, there's no rhyme nor
organization of the structure because there are no folders. I only uploaded
a folder that had six files in it. How can I make that folder on the iPhone
and so on, to get this to work?

If Voice Dream is not the thing, can we do it in iBooks?

Thanks in advance,

Brenda
