If you are talking about plugs/cables for a Mac, then 2 came with my Macbook
Air. There is a separate plug that pushes in to the block that has the attached
cable that then goes in to the Mac. There is a second lead that has a fixed
wall plug on one end, and a plug on the other that fits in to the block, this
is to create an extended lead for the Mac -

a question about the inbox window in mail on the mac

2013-09-04 Thread Linda C. Knight

Hi all,

I have a brain freeze. For the life of me, I can't figure it out.

When you open the mail program on the mac, you see the inbox. Ok, I was
setting up art's email preferences and as I looked in his inbox

Going up and down the list of email, I couldn't tell when the list began or
ended. It just kept recycling through the messages.

On my email list window I could go through my list and it would stop at the
beginning and stop when I reached the bottom of the list. I fixed mine when
I started weeks ago, but I will be hanged if I can remember what I did. Can
anyone remind me how to fix this?

Thank you,

Hugs and 73

Web browsing

2013-09-04 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

A common experience today when web browsing, was that when I clicked on many
links, instead of the page opening, I had to physically interact with HTML. I
don't know why sometimes pages just open, and at other times I have to interact
with HTML, but in the past it's still been ok, but today, on those occasions
when I've had to interact, I couldn't use any of the hot key combinations to
jump say to headings, or to search for things, each time I tried, I was thrown
out of interacting, so other than VO arrowing tediously, or tabbing, I couldn't
access the info on the page. Do others have this experience with some links and
webpages? -

Have not seen this directly, but one thing you might try, if you have
not already done so, hide your tool bars, they can sometimes draw the
focus away from the main content of the page. Actually this is good
advice for most applications, especially since there are usually
keyboard shortcuts for most tool bar items.

Creating web bookmarks on the desktop

Hi all -

I've created a bookmarks folder on my desktop, and have been able to drag and
drop web addresses in to it from some of my favourite websites. Very handy.
However, I can see as this folder gets more website links dropped in to it,
finding the ones I want could be a tedious procedure, as each one starts with
either http: or www.

I've looked around to see if there is a way to rename these addresses more
meaningfully so that I could use first letter navigation to find them, but with
no luck as far as the menu go. Anybody got any ideas/suggestions? -

Re: Creating web bookmarks on the desktop

2013-09-04 Thread David Griffith
I use a similar system.. all you need to do is to rename the web location file
by pressing enter/return on it and editing the file name in the normal way.
This does not change the underlying address wich relates to the web location
file.

Just to check I went to my Apple Vis web location file and renamed it by
removing the www etc. It still works just fine.

Thanks David - got it now. I was trying to edit the name by interacting in the
usual way, it was the pressing of the enter key when interacting that sorted it
for me -

Re: Creating web bookmarks on the desktop

2013-09-04 Thread Travis Siegel
The urls are kept in files with the appropriate names. Simply rename
the files in question, and you're all set. I don't have that version
of osx, so I can't say whether you need to do this via terminal, or
if it will work to rename the files themselves via the desktop, but
give it a try and see what happens. Worst case, you need to save the
url to your desktop again, but I bet it'll work.

ipad Mini setup question.

2013-09-04 Thread Jim Noseworthy

Hi Folks:

I have a persons iPad Mini here to set up for accessibility. My question
is, is there any options that I can change on the iPad that are not
found in the iPhone setup? For example, while in the iPad Mini setup
menu, one can go in and out of the setup catagory without meaning to.
Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

Thanks all over the place gang.

Re: ipad Mini setup question.

2013-09-04 Thread Matthew Carello
Hello Jim. The iPad is set up quite different than the IPhone. For instance in
settings there are containers. You have the main settings screen and say you
double tap on something like accessibility it will put those items under the
main one. www.applevis.com has a very well done podcast on setting up an IPad
mini. I also know you can set up gestures for it and that podcast goes into
that also.

notification centre on the macbook air

2013-09-04 Thread William Lomas
hello to all

i note in my trackpad settings options exist for a sighted person to use 2
finger swipes to bring up the notification centre

how would a voiceover user do this?
i assume the same way but trackpad commander would need to be off?
