Hello there. This changes according to what is going on. For instance if you
had to force quit an application it would show 2 items in there. The force quit
one and go to desktop. From what I have noticed it always has go to desktop in
there. So it will be how many new items in there plus that one.

It never has the correct number!

Re: e bey

2013-09-13 Thread Bryan Jones
Hi Krystal,

I am not aware of an email address for ebay support, but if you try the
following steps you might find either a support address or a phone number:

Open the eBay App.
Double-tap Home.
Double-tap Settings.
Double-tap Contact eBay Support.
Double-tap Technical problems.
Double-tap App and/or features are not working.

This presented me with a standard list of troubleshooting steps such as, "Make
sure you are running the latest version of the App," "Power your device off and
on," "Delete and reinstall the App," all of which I had already tried of
course. At the bottom of this list of troubleshooting steps was another button
to contact eBay support. When I double-tapped that button I was presented with
the option to phone eBay support at 866-487-3229. This is a toll-free call here
in the US, but I'm assuming that number is not applicable outside of the
States. If you are outside of the States, perhaps following the steps above
will present you with an email address or a better phone number.

When I called the support phone number, I was asked to punch in the phone
number and postal code associated with my eBay account. I entered some random
numbers until the recording gave up and listed my options. There was no option
for technical support, so I pressed "0" and was quickly put through to the
support tech.

HTH,
Bryan

Both open office and libreoffice work reasonably well with vo.
There's gotchas to watch out for, such as each paragraph being in it's
own group if you use groups mode, but otherwise, for the most part,
both office suites do the job they were designed to do, and do so with
very little fuss. Something ms could learn a lot from. They don't
try to be everything to everyone, they simply get out of the way and
let you get your work done, they are free, come with source, and are
rapidly growing in popularity, even being used by some fortune 500
companies instead of paying license fees for ms products. (though,
there are those who deny this vehemently). Kind of funny really.

If you're talking about an editor that works in terminal, use nano.
It replaces pico which was the default for years on linux
distributions, and indeed, it can be called up with pico as the
command, but it works well, and to be honest, when I'm in terminal,
that's all I use.

Hi Jim,

I don't have an MSN account, but perhaps the following Apple knowledgebase
article will help you get going.

Re: e bey

2013-09-13 Thread Bryan Jones
Hi Krystal,

Yes, the current eBay IOS App is partially broken in terms of scrolling through
a list of items. When you attempt to proceed through a list of items using the
standard one finger swipe right gesture, VO will read the few items currently
displayed on screen but will then scroll off the screen and read the row of
buttons along the bottom instead of continuing on through the list of eBay
items. This occurs in any of the three display modes: grid, feed or list.

AFAIK, the only way around this issue is to make sure VO focus is placed on one
of the items currently displayed in the results and then perform a three finger
swipe up, after which VO should scroll down one page in the list of results and
announce, "Page X of Y." In my experience, this seems to work best when
setting the list to grid view. I am using an iPhone 4S running IOS version
6.13, Ebay App version 3.02.

I called eBay support and reported this issue to a friendly support tech who
could hardly believe that a blind person was able to use an iPhone. We'll see
how far that ticket goes. The eBay support phone number here in the US is
866-487-3229. I'm sorry but I don't have a number to call if you are outside of
the States.

HTH,
Bryan

Re: new member of list with a basic question?

2013-09-13 Thread Gordon Smith
The beginning of wisdom is “I do not know!”. Hence, new member questions are
never too stupid for this group. Indeed, they are not stupid at all. We all
have to start somewhere and some, and I do not include present company here,
would do well to remember that fact.

Kind regards

 Hi Sarah

Many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I am not understanding your
instructions. How do I navigate around the screen to reach the options?
Sorry if I appear an idiot, but Mac is a steep learning curve from a PC.

 Best wishes

Re: VMware Fusion 6.0

2013-09-13 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi Don

No, you cannot use VO in Windows. Regarding the UAC, what you’d expect to
happen in a basic install of the OS happens in the VM also. I’m not going to
get more detailed as that would take this discussion off topic and I’m keen to
avoid that. I know that there are members who already become quite vexed by
the discussion ofFusion, so I don’t want to add further to their irritation.
Quite apart from the fact that doing so would place me in direct violation of
our own list policy rules and I may see Lynne placing me into moderation mode
and that could lead to a row and I’d have to move out and then ;-)

Kind regards
