mouse click the buttons instead of VO space. First though, route mouse to VO.

The preferences in GarageBand

2013-12-23 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

Two things here:

Firstly, when I look at preferences for GB, the general button is selected by
default, and I can't change it. If I click the midi button, or the advanced
button, the focus just stays stuck on the general button.

Secondly, I am finding that the GB app freezes, and I have to do a forced quit
to get out of it. Again, anybody help? It's looking like I'm wasting my time on
this software, and hardly anybody here uses it -

Can anyone recommend an app that will help me to read the parameters of

Ok, I can get the grand piano to play by doing the following:

 Open GB.

 Select new project.

VO arrow right once to project templates, interact and choose grand piano.

Stop interacting and VO right arrow across to the choose button, and click
 it.

This brings up the new project from templates screen with the option to
save the project settings just chosen.

I click the create button, and can then turn on the music typing with CMD
 shift K.

I can now play the piano using the home row and the qwerty rows of keys on
my keyboard. So far, I am unable to record anything, pressing the letter r
may or may not work, as I can't find how to play back, I don't know.

The other thing is that I can't seem to choose any other instruments other
than the piano, when I do, and try to play, using the qwerty keys, there
 is no sound!
 Anybody move me on?

Oh yes, I'm running version 6.0.5 of GB under Mountain Lion.

 Thanks -

Hi Phil -

Thanks for trying to help. I'm still struggling here! I find that Command I
just hides info, it doesn't bring up the instruments table.

There are so many areas etc to interact with, that I'm afraid I can't quite
tell you where I found this, but somewhere I was asked if I wanted to download
the entire list of instruments. I said yes to this, but got thrown out of the
app, and couldn't find my way back to that option. What it does suggest is that
instruments, other than the piano, may not actually be installed. Would that be
right in your experience? -
