Re: Old Blind Cool Tech podcasts For Mac On iBlink Radio

2014-01-17 Thread Mac-Access
Hello Eileen,

Thanks for pointing out that many of Mike Arrigo's old Blind Cool Tech for the
Mac can be found on the iBlink radio iOS app. For those who would like to see
the brief description of each podcast, you'll find these listed in an archived
Mac-Access list post of mine:
Re: Podcast on Lion OS:
http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/msg03072.html

For example, here's the excerpted description for "Demo 5":
Mac Demo 5 1/18/2009 Mike Arrigo continues this series about built-in
accessibility on the Mac by demonstrating running Windows on the Mac. He
discusses the reasons why you would want to run Windows on a Mac, then talks
about how it works, runs both the Mac operating system and Windows at the same
time, and shows running Window-eyes, System Access, and Kurzweil 1000. 17.8 MB

The post was made when it was still possible to download podcasts directly from
the Blind Cool Tech web site, and describes the contents of Mike's mac podcasts
through his Mac Demo 14 on Lion. For the record, the Macintosh Audio Demos by
Mike Arrigo listed in the iBlink Radio app under Audio Tutorials and Interviews
stop with Mac Demo 11 on new features in Snow Leopard. The later podcasts deal
with items like backup and maintenance, trackpad gestures on the MacBook and
productivity apps, and the Lion operating system. I think demo 14 was his last
Mac podcast demo on Blind Cool Tech, although there were subsequently a number
demonstrating navigation with different GPS apps.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Old Blind Cool Tech podcasts For Mac On iBlink Radio

2014-01-17 Thread Eileens Misrahi
Hello Folks,

I have iBlink Radio installed on my phone. If you tap on and open the "audio
and Tutorial" link, and flick down 2 or 3 links, there will be one that says
"macintosh." Tap on it and that's where the old Blind Cool Tech podcasts are.
The one that needs to be opened is "Demo 5." This is where Mike discusses
placing Windows on the Mac. I havenT listened to it yet, but it's on my list to
do, as like others on this thread are needing to have a duel boot. HTH.

cheers,
Eileen

will email interested persons offlist about the windows on the mac then.
I have mike's podcast now.
yes one can go off topic easy and then you do get too many emails

2014-01-17 Thread Gordon Smith

 Hello everybody
This is one of those times when people are going to think me
churlish. But please remembw that the Windows discussion is off
topic for this group. How ever innocent these posts may seem at
the start of the thread, the Windows discussion always gets out
of hand.
So, just to be clear on this. No more Windows chat on this
list please. This is an iOS and OS X group.
I know that there will be people who don't agree with our
stance on this istsue. But we have to think to the geaearter
good.
So to sum up, Windows is off topic for this group. That will
not change regardless of what otheh list owners decide to do. So
please, no more Windows chat in this group. That policy will
not change. Kind Regards

Hello John,

I have recently bought a macbook air and intend to install windows under VM
fusion. I have actually got on rather well with the Mac and have been
surprised how quickly I've got to grips with it as a new Mac user but my
work requires me to have access to windows as well from time to time so I
want a machine that can do both.

I'm going to give it a try this weekend with assistance from my sighted

happily let you know how we got on and I'd appreciate it if you would do the
same.

I know from another list it works well so fingers crossed.
