Removing music from iPhone 5 using iTunes
I hope this is considered on topic, but wonder if someone could suggest how I remove music from my iPhone 5? I have purchases on my iPad Mini, and synchronised the device with iTunes. But when I connected my iPhone 5 to synchronise it on another occasion, all the music found its way there. As my iPhone is 16gb, I don't want any music on it. So, how do I prevent my iPhone from getting the music when I synchronise it with iTunes? Any help appreciated please. Many thanks indeed. Re: VoiceOver and long alt text descriptions
Hi All, I have been able to use Windows screen readers to successfully read the graphics. Unfortunately, the Windows screen readers won't read all the math symbols correctly, but VO will. I will try the different browsers once I get access to a Mac again. Unfortunately, the assignment requires log on info, so it would be difficult for me to provide a test assignment. Thanks, Aleeha On 1/18/14, Nicholas Parsons mr.nicholas.pars...@gmail.com wrote: HI Aleeha, There's nothing that I can think of which would prevent VoiceOver reading the alt text on an image in Safari, particularly if you have VoiceOver set to announce all images. All I can suggest is to experiment with different browsers. Sorry I can't give you a better answer. Hopefully someone else can. Cheers, Nic On 19 Jan 2014, at 12:09 PM, Aleeha Dudley blindcowgirl1...@gmail.com wrote: Hello All, I am a new member of the list and have a question about working with images with extremely long alt text descriptions. I am working with WebAssign, an online homework system, for my Calculus class. Currently, I have a test assignment that I am trying with a Mac running the latest OS. The question of concern is one in which the images are tied to radio buttons and are graphs with extremely long text descriptions in the alt field. VoiceOver, however, won't read them, even though image verbosity is set to all. The funny thing is that VoiceOver will read the alt text associated with other images on the site, but this text is much shorter. To give an example, the longer alt text might read a bit like this: This is a graph of two random curves. The first curve begins at (-5,7) and continues down and to the right, ending at (5,-8). The second curve begins at (-2,1) and continues up and to the right, ending at (4,6). All the short alt text says, in general, is your answer is correct. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to make VoiceOver read this content? Ipad: external keyboard and jumping to different parts of the UI
Hi all, I’m using the iPad air with the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard cover. I’ll digress for a second to say that this is a lovely accessory for the iPad air. I have a situation where I have a long long list of emails in one of my folders. There are several hundred in there. Is there a way to move to the message content (using the keyboard) once a message has been selected? At present I find myself using VO-right arrow to simply move from element to element. I can, of course, simply tap the screen at the location where the message is displayed but if possible I’d rather not take my hands off the keyboard. I’m lazy, what can I say. Gordon, Yes I get that, but if you go into recovery mode, you can erase the hard drive, which is why you need to have an install disc or some other medium of reinstalling the OS, if you don't, you're pretty much stuck. Re: How to make a bootable Mavericks install drive | Macworld
Hi All, Since we still seem to be getting posts on this topic, let me just state that the MacWorld article Dane originally cited contains a comprehensive discussion of all the different suggestions that have been offered in this thread (e.g., Gordon's suggestion of using The Apple Recovery Assistant, John's suggestion of DiskMaker X, etc.). I'll also note that the author of the article, Dan Frakes, reported a few instances where DiskMaker X version 3 didn't work perfectly for him. So if you receive a message, such as the utility alerting you that it couldn't properly name the drive it was creating, and want to know what is going on, you can check this article. Also, Josh may be thinking of the steps outlined for using Disk Utility to prepare the USB thumb drive for creation if the bootable installer. That step does, indeed, write over the partition contents on the USB thumb drive on which you are installing the bootable media. None of the steps, if followed correctly, overwrite and erase your hard drive, although that is something that is possible to do under Disk Utility run with Admin privileges if your drive went completely bad and you wanted to restore contents from a bootable clone hard drive (which is presumably attached to your system so you can work from that hard drive in cases where you need to perform drastic surgery on your computer's internal hard drive. If you use any of the individual methods to create a bootable Mavericks install drive without problems, you may not need or want to read this article. However, if you encounter issues midway, or need to know about other preparation procedures to take before upgrading (especially the recommendation that you create a bootable clone of your hard drive before proceeding using programs like Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper!), this article contains links to that information. I'll just end by pasting in the paragraph with reference URL link to this article from Dane's original post. This article has been continuously updated since its original appearance in MacWorld when Mavericks was first released. The Install Mavericks is extremely comprehensive and even has sections which deal with those earlier 2007 model mac machines which won't run Mountain Lion and above. http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install-drive.html HTH. You can use the free Mac Daisy Book Reader called Olearia. This is limited to Audio Files and has few bells and whistles but is free. Read Here is apparently good but a very expensive option. RE: spell checking on mountain lion
Generally on the Mac I never use actual spell check. Rather I use command semi colon whilst in the edit text to jump to the next misspelt word which is automatically highlighted. You can then use VO to read the line in context. You can also easily pull down a context menu which contains suggestions for your misspelt word with numlock + if you are using numpad commander as I do, or the more tedious shift VO M if you are not. I do not know of a Mac equivalent of replace all in spell check. I guess you would have to resort to a global find and replace as a separate operation. Problem with iPhone SIM Card
Hi Everyone, Wondering if anyone has had problems with sim cards in their iPhone 5S. Yesterday the card stopped working, giving me a no service notification on the screen. Got it back once with a reset, but the problem has come back with nothing working this time to wake it up. When I ordered the 5S in October I had to return it because the card wouldn’t activate. I was sent a new phone and up until yesterday things went fine. So, wondering if the sim card is aa known problem. Any help would be appreciated on this one. Leo Leo A. Re: Problem with iPhone SIM Card
Hi, that sounds like a problem with the card reader not the actual sim card. I have seen it before and yes they do replace your phone when it is that as the issue, but if it is the actual card you can go to your carrier and they will swop them out. Re: looking for a good mp3 tag remover
Hello Michael, ITunes lets you select multiple tracks and use the Get Info shortcut (Command-I on the Mac, Control-I in Windows) to edit tracks. However, if you don't want to use iTunes! you can try a program named ID3 Editor by Pa-software, which can also be run from a command line interface, if you wish (for people who like this option): http://www.pa-software.com/id3editor/ ID3 Editor £10.00 (GBP), €12.00 (Euro) or $15.00 (USD) I know this works through Mountain Lion, but I don't know the status of its support under Mavericks. There are some people on this list who are using this, I think, and may be able to report on Mavericks support, HTH.
