Vo reporting unread messages in mail, that have been read
Hi all - Having read all my email messages, when I do a quick option u, just to be sure, VO will announce something like 9 unread messages. When I do a quick up and down scan of the status field, there are no unread messages. Doing another options u, VO gives me a different number of unread messages. If I arrow up and down again through the table, and then try options u again, eventually VO will say no unread messages. Anybody know what is going on with the inaccurate reporting of unread messages? Re: Vienna was Re: Qcast
Hi, Another question. I've created a folder and am wondering how to put certain feeds into it. I can't figure this out from the menus, help or FAQs...I'm assuming it's possible. I created a folder called TechNews and want to put some of the feeds already in Vienna into that folder. Can anyone tell me if/how that's possible? I tried going into the context menu and going to edit feed but this just allows me to change the url. Option clicking on it does the same... Perhaps I would need to drag and drop. Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding the way folders work in Vienna... Any thoughts? Thanks, Catherine On 4/4/14, Catherine Turner catherineturner2...@googlemail.com wrote: Ah thanks, that did it. It is certainly more straightforward to play a podcast than in iTunes. If your main way of listening to Podcasts is on an iOS device you may be better off sticking with Downcast though where you can organise everything on your device. Having said that QCast will definitely become my standard way of playing Podcasts on the Mac. QCast cost me $10 payable by PayPal and the user key and activation details came immediately. Web Development
Hi all Recently, the subject of website development was discussed on Mac Access. This kind of set me thinking and I wondered whether anybody had got any joy out of using Sandvox? This is, I believe, apple’s recommended application now, since their own iWeb is no longer available. Many people talk about using Wordpress, and this is something I’m going to investigate while I’m on Easter holidays. Although not in the same way as some others, I plan to install it on a local server to see how it works. Once done, I’m planning to install MAMP Pro in order to maintain several Wordpress sites on the same server. Another application which may or may not have been mentioned as part of the discussion is MarsEdit. This application which is available from a small developer called Red Sweater, http://www.red-sweater.com/marsedit/ is very definitely worth a look and, if you’re able, supporting. The guy who develops the software is very proactive and always keen to assist where he can. Any thoughts anybody? Hi Chris We have been using MarsEdit for years now, alongside other solutions such as Taco HTML Edit. But I think to get the best out of MarsEdit you do need a WordPress account on some server or others. We’re fortunate in as much as we do have the capability and capacity to install our own server and dedicate it to this type of thing so I think we will do this and as soon as I get around to doing it we will move our blog to our own servers. But I strongly urge you to buy direct from the developer. That way you can be sure of benefiting from their excellent support. Re: other voices now in 10.9
I’m currently using Daniel for Chromevox and he’s working well. Just out of curiosity though, would it be possible for me to obtain some voices I am missing? I’m missing UK-English Emily, Sangeeta and Jill. If not that’s okay, but I just find it rather strange that these voices are not on my system. I even did a search for them in the text field, but no dice. I’m running 10.9.2 on a mid-2013 Mac Book Air. I know at least some other people have these voices, because I listened to an Apple Vis podcast where they were demonstrated along with the other ones. I don't use my thumbs. I use my bird finger to do all of my navigation. I have wrist troubles os my thumbs are out of the question plus I'm afraid I might drop my phone lol! You really don't need ctrl d or any bt keyboard shortcuts to delete messages. Re: Shortcut Keys In Safari on an iPhone?Hi Again, Folks. Since I'm not a consistent Apple products user, I run into some occasional snags.
If you listen to yrou voice over you can tell when it says body, or just keep hitting enter until you get there. On ios it's I think 3 or 4 presses but if you keep hearing new line when you hit enter you are in the body. Just remove the new lines and you got it. Panic Coda is reputedly quite good although I haven’t as yet tried the latest version. I do have a license for it though so I’ll try it, along with the latest version of Sandvox and report back. I'm glad you mentioned some of the other web building platforms out there as I might find them helpful in the future. My question sort of branches off this topic, hence the subject change. What resources are out there for blind people who are learning website development? Particularly what resources might be out there to help us learn things like coding, and how to deal with graphic design and all? I suppose I'm asking because I've been looking but just haven't found much out there. Will also check out Taco HTML Edit as am thinking of creating a website to publicize my groups on Emissives or something like that. It may also help me brush up my web development too. It recognized my Wordpress account right away once I entered in the required information. I was able to post both a blog and a page, make edits to it and so on. I plan to buy it probably from the App Store soon rather than the developers themselves. So if you're going down this route I say way to go for you.
