I've used NVDA with Virtualbox (free) in the past. I recall it required

Re: Help for finding a specific command in Mac apps

2013-05-10 Thread Chris Johnson

Thanks Zack,

I talked with someone from Apple Accessibility about it. Said maybe
they can put the command after the word in the help menu. So when you
arrow down you'll get "Reply Cmd R" But kind of doubt they'll do that
because it's just more clutter for most users. But then option to turn
this feature on or off would be good. Just seems like a reference
method such as this would be very helpful for most Voiceover users.
Especially new ones.

Hi Chris,
Not as far as I am aware. However, in general, browsing the menus for any

suspect you will find the vast majority of commands this way, and while it is
not as efficient as being able to look visually, it does get you your
information. As always, I may be wrong on this, and am open to correction. :-)
All the best,

I use NTFS for Mac by Paragone (note: spelled with an e at the end not a
g). They gave me good technical support over the phone a couple years ago.

best writing app for IPhone

2011-12-28 Thread Chris Johnson
A while back it was said that Pages app wasn't very accessible. I
wonder if that has changed. What is your preferred app for writing,
and working with documents, with voiceover on the iphone?

Is Keynote accessible or is there a better app?

Chris

Hi Catherine, Chris, and Others,

iA Writer exists as an iOS word processing app for the iPad, and is also
available for the Mac, but there is no iOS version of this app for the iPhone.
That explains why Chris couldn't find it. There are just some apps that are
available for the iPad that don't have iPhone versions, like the original
release of Pages. And of course, there are also apps for the iPhone that won't
run on the iPad.

HTH (with a PostScript for Catherine below my signature). Cheers,

Esther

P.S. I don't use very many abbreviations in my posts, but the few that I'm likely to use are "HTH" for "Hope this helps", "YMMV"
for "Your mileage may vary" -- meaning that you may have a different experience or reach a different conclusion/end up with a different opinion than
mine under similar circumstances, and "AFAIK" for "As far as I know". The most puzzling acronym I've encountered, at least on first
viewing, is "a11y" for "accessibility", although it's very commonly used in tweets. The general principle is that you write the first and
last letter of a word, and then give the number of letters that you're leaving out in between.
