Audio recorder for Mac OS
Hi, I’m looking for a simple audio recorder that runs on Mac OS X. I’d like to record spoken text with the internal microphone of my Mac or maybe with an external mic. Do you know such an app which is also good useable with VoiceOver? Re: Audio recorder for Mac OS
Hi, thanks for the tip with QuickTime and SmartRecorder. SmartRecorder is simpel and cool, but I miss one feature. It is possible to append new recordings to an existing recording, but unfortunatly it is not possible to insert it the new recording at a place in the middle, only to the end. Does anyone know a simpel recording software that can do that and let me insert new tracks into an existing recording? I’m sure Garage Band, Audacity, etc. can, but this kind of software is much to powerfull. Cheers, Chris recording to an existing Am 22.09.2014 um 15:55 schrieb Leo Bissonnette leo.bissonne...@videotron.ca: Hello, Just downloaded Smart Recorder. It’s a free download from the app store. Useable PDF editor?
Hi, does anyone know an useable PDF editor for Mac OS? I tried the Wondershare PDF editor, but this app is not working very well with VoiceOver. Also I thought that Nisus Writer Pro can be used to edit PDF files, but this app converts the content to rtf first, which causes loss of some formating informations. What I am looking for is an app that deals with PDF directly and does not convert the content first. Is there an app out there, that is useable for us? Re: Accessible firewall for the mac?
Hi, do also take a look at the open source project icefloor. Its a firewall that can be used in adition to the default firewall of Mac OS. It is possible to build custom firewall roules, get an overview on the connections on the Mac, block applications, etc. The app is very accessible and can be used with VoiceOver. Cheers, Christian Am 16.08.2014 um 16:53 schrieb Bryan Jones openses...@me.com: Hello Michael, Little Snitch is a great security utility, and much of it is actually quite VO accessible. Unfortunately, you will need a sighted person to tick one checkbox in order to turn on that accessibility. I’ve included instructions below. (Please don’t flame the messenger about this particular accessibility gotcha… I’ve already had my beard singed previously on this same subject, thread available in the archives.) :-) Also, please be forewarned that This app is not for the impatient or faint-of-heart. It can be very chatty and verbose in it’s default configuration. However, for the User who is willing and able to take the time to learn and configure the myriad settings within this app, it can provide some good information and another layer of security. Here’s how to install the app and enable VO access. This assumes the latest releases of Mavericks and Little Snitch. 1. Install Little Snitch and restart the Mac when prompted. While the Little Snitch installation process is VO accessible, I recommend not installing it unless a sighted person is available to perform steps 2 through 5 below, otherwise Little Snitch might start blocking network communications with no way for a blind User to know what is happening. 2. Launch applications / Little Snitch Configuration.app 3. Open the Little Snitch Preferences. 4. In the Security tab, tick the checkbox labeled “Allow GUI Scripting..” This will enable VO to interact with most parts of Little Snitch. You might need to restart the Mac again at this point. One part of the app which I’m pretty sure is not VO accessible is the “Network Monitor” pane. Re: Accessing the OS X terminal with VoiceOver on a laptop
Hi, Am 24.06.2014 um 18:01 schrieb Travis Siegel tsie...@softcon.com: As mentioned before, search the list archives. I posted a message here a couple years ago (in the leopard days) with a configuration that makes vo work better with terminal. It's largely a matter of changing the cursor type, and changing things to track that new type of cursor. It's relatively simple to modify settings on the fly too, if you're in a program like mutt, pine, or something similar that uses highlight tracking, the terminal has a setting for that, just change your cursor type, and all works well. Unfortunatly not for me, but I’ll take a look at your description, maybe I missed something. Usability of Spotify
Hi, after the Spotify iPhone app was updated to version 1.0 the usability dropped because many buttons are not labeled anymore :-(. Also the web player has been updated with the result that it is even more inaccessible :-(. The Mac OS or Windows application was and is unuseable since I started with Spotify…, all in all this is a not very nice situation :-(. Some German Mac and iPhone users wrote to Spotify and told them about the problems we have with their products and they got good feedback. The problems will be forwarded to the development team and maybe something will happen that makes the programms and the web player more useable for us. Maybe all of you, that also use Spotify, could also write to the supp...@spotify.com address and tell them about the accessibility issues, the more people are writing, the better :-). And maybe a new campagne of the month of AppleVis regarding of Spotify would be the right thing now…, the last caused no results, as far as I know :-). I like Spotify very much and it would be sad not to be able to use their products because they get more and more inaccessible… Please help and let them know, that there are many blind people out there that like to use Spotify also in the future!
