Hello Desi, As far as I know, the setting should stick. You have to do it for each application, but that’s all. Hi Anne, Thanks again. When I went into the e-mail menu under edit and the substitutions submenu, my smart quote option was dimmed. How can I get it to be active? Must I do that in System Preferences, or e-mail Preferences? eventually I will get this stuff all down, or it will kill me! LOL! Hello Desi, You need to be in an editable field for the option to become available. Just open a new message or start a reply, and it should work.
