Moving books to folders in Voice Dream Reader [was Re: may have asked this before]

2013-11-24 Thread Esther
Hi Brenda,
To move books in Voice Dream Reader from one folder to another,
1. From the All Items home screen, double tap the Folders button in the top
left corner.
2. On the Folders screen, flick to the folder you wish to move books from and
double tap. (I usually have these outside of folders on the All Items screen
and start from there. If you already have folders you set up, and just want to
move books into them, you can skip all the earlier steps and just start at step
3.)
3. Double tap the Edit button in the top right corner.
3a. Flick through your books and double tap to select entries. There is also a
Select all button in the bottom left corner, and an Unread button 1 flick
to the right of it.
3b. When you are finished selecting items, double tap the Move to button that
is the 3rd of 4 buttons at the bottom of the screen. (The 4th button is
Delete).
4. On the Move to screen, flick to the folder you wish to move your books to,
and double tap. If you need to create a new folder, navigate to the Add
button at the top of the screen, just right of the Move To screen heading,
and double tap.
4a. A new folder with the default name of Folder will be created at the end
of the list under My Folders, and focus will be at the end of the text field
for that name with the on-screen keyboard enabled.
4b. Give the folder a new name, e.g. Other Books, and double tap the Done
button in the bottom right corner to dismiss the keyboard.
4c. Double tap the Done button in the top right corner to leave folder
editing mode.
4d. Double tap the new folder you created to select it as the Move to folder.

You can also reorder or delete folders when you are in editing mode. The
reorder button is to the right of each folder entry. When focus is on this
button, do a double tap and hold anywhere on the screen. Without lifting you
finger from the screen, move the entry up or down to the position you want
before releasing. The delete switch button is to the left of each folder
entry. When you double tap delete, focus will be on a Confirm deletion
button. To avoid deleting the entry, either flick left back to the delete
switch button and double tap it again to toggle it off, or double tap the
Done button in the top right corner of the screen to exit editing mode
altogether.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Ah thanks for that. I’m not the original poster but it’s nice to know this can
be done. It seems a bit convoluted for lack of a better term, but if it works
then all is well.

Be blessed.

Re: Moving books to folders in Voice Dream Reader [was Re: may have asked this before]

2013-11-24 Thread Esther
Hi Sarah,

Maybe the quick conceptual way to describe moving books to different folders is
that any actions that involve moving or deleting items in Voice Dream Reader
requires you to be in Edit mode in that folder or screen. When that occurs,
the buttons at the bottom of the screen change from ones that deal with the
reading and display of the current folder's contents to buttons used to select
all, move to another folder, or delete.

Apart from that, you only need to know how to navigate to folders from the
default All Items home screen (using the Folders button in the top left
corner to go to a Folders screen that lists your folders), and how to create
new folders. You can either create new folders with the Add button on the
Folders screen, or, if you started moving books and suddenly realized that you
never created a the new folder to hold them, by using a similar Add button at
the top of the Move To screen.

Adding new folders automatically puts you in edit mode, since many people want
to be able to specify a name. If you just want to take the default value, and
deal with renaming later, when you're on the Move To screen after double
tapping add at the top of the screen, just double tap Done at the bottom
right corner (to exit the on screen keyboard) and then Done at the top right
corner (to exit edit mode). Then do a four-finger tap on the bottom half of
the screen to go to your last folder (which will be named Folder), and double
tap to move the contents there.

The instructions only get long when there was no previously created folder. In
most cases, there are already folders, and you just select the one you want to
move to on the Move To screen.

Also, I probably should have left out the general editing information at the
end of the instructions, but they're included just in case somebody needs to
know how to delete or reorder folders. I suppose that we can assume that
anyone who wants to change folder locations already knows how to navigate to
folders in Voice Dream Reader, but the instructions are stuck in there for
completeness in case someone creates a folder they later want to get rid of.

The only part of the explanation that I remember for myself is the need to go
to Edit mode in the starting location, so that selecting items allows me to
use a Move to button at the bottom of the screen.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
