I put alisus on my desk top personally. I find things quicker then~/google
drive/uploads/file anme. I just hit cmd shift d, then up then cmd O. and I"m
there. I do clean out my desk top and have all of my old stuff in a folder
called ~/documents/desktoday/folder date

Take care.

It’s best to use the Dock for aliases. Personally, I don’t bother with them as
it’s so easy to locate any files or folders I want by using the first letter or
two of the name. I’m really pretty organised when it comes to storing files.

Also, don’t forget that it’s easy to reorganise the Dock so that your items are
in alphabetical order. Just use Cmd-Option-Right or Left Arrow and you’ll hear
where you’re putting the item you’re moving.

Ah thanks Ann, then I was getting desktop and finder mixed up. Final

best to put them on the dock or just leave in the documents folder?

Hello Eleanor,

The Finder is the application that manages the storage of files and
folders whatever the application that created them.

On a Mac, it is a bad idea to put lots of icons on the desktop as they all
get loaded into memory when the computer is booted and can therefore slow
down the machine.

The Dock contains aliases to applications which are in fact in the
Applications folder. It can also contain pointers to folders stored
anywhere on the Mac.

Cheers,

Anne

Oh wonderful! Been looking for a similar solution myself as can't
understand why Finder by default shows everything in alphabetical order
with folders showing in spurious places. Hope I'm making sense.

What is column view like under yosemite? It could be quite sluggish under
previous operating systems.

2014-11-03 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Think of it as a sim link. I have several of these on my desk top but
sourting by kind wont work if you have amadeus documents as they will head to
the top then the folders then the rest of the files.

Take care.

As the Mac Access Dot Net administrators, we always strive to ensure that the
Mac-Access E-Mal list remains malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free.
However, this should in no way replace your own security strategy. We assume
neither liability nor responsibility should something unpredictable happen.

Re: [Mac-access]: Sorting finder with folders on top on mac?

2014-11-03 Thread Sarah k Alawami
No there is no way. I just have learned to deal with it for the 4 years I have
had the mac. I kind of like it this way. Why not if you want this feature go to
apple's support page and find the feedback link. I have put many of my
suggestions there and most of them made it.

If I am wrong let me know as I just kind of don't need this feature anymore.
lol! I normally go by date modified only. and I have an excel spread sheet in
my head of everything on my computer so for me finding thing is not hard about
80 percent of the time.
