Re: Apple Care Question.
Hello Jim Hopefully I can respond to this without anybody taking me out of context. :) You receive 90 days of complimentary support from Apple which includes basic installation and setup, plus 1 years' limited warranty on your hardware. It is my understanding that AppleCare gives you access to additional resources; but what I found odd was that they say that your AppleCare plan ends 3 years from the day you bought the machine. So to me, that only means they give you 2 years of extended cover, not 3. However, I don't dispute what others have said about this; in as much as it has allowed them to receive replacement hardware so it seems like a worthwhile expenditure. Re: Apple Care Question.
Hello Jim That, to be honest, is something that I myself was wondering. What won't they cover you for? If it's a case of that they won't replace a machine that you jump on, then try to claim for, I can totally understand that. Re: Apple Care Question.
Hi Lynn, I imagine that if you are sensible about handling your machine and don't do things like spill coffee on it or drop it from great heights the odds are good they'll cover you. Again, I've had no experience with this personally, but it makes sense. Best, Zack. Re: Apple Care Question.
Hi Zachary I think you're absolutely right. Why should Apple replace something which is broken due to wilful neglect? That seems perfectly reasonable to me. Re: Apple Care Question.
Apple Care has been good to me over the years. 1. The largest number of refusals has been water drops . All the smaller Apple devices have a sensor that changes color with too much moisture, and if the sensor is marked then you are pretty much out of luck. My daughter has a Mac Book Pro that she dropped and then the hard disk started to fail. We brought the system into the Apple Store told them the computer started acting bad after being dropped. The Genius examined the exterior case and decided to replace the hard disk for free. I expect that if the case had more then the occasional scratches they would have charged us.
