Hi all
Can we use Os X's system voice with ChromeVox? I have it set to British

Re: Chrome Web Store - ChromeVox

2014-03-21 Thread Christopher gilland
Absolutely you can. Go with your ctrl+command+o followed by the letter o by
itself. this will bring up your Chromevox options.

OK, now... in here, let's tab down until you get to the drop down for the
voice. In here, if you now press your chromevox+space bar, in other words,
command+ctrl+space bar, that should click this drop down combo box. Now, in
here, you should be able to chromevox down arrow, don't use just the down
arrow key alone, or you may lose speech. Trust me, I did that once, and oh
man! what a disaster! LOL! Anyhow, chromevox+down arrow, and you should
see system default. once there, hit your chromevox+space bar again to click
and collapse that combo box. OK, now, hit command+W, and that should close
the Chromevox options screen. There ya go!

I don't have Chromevox installed on my mac currently, but if you really need
one done, it won't be exactly the same, but it will be incredibly incredibly
close. If you need an audio demo done showing how this works, I could
probably make you one using my actual Chromebook.

Just let me know.

Chris.

Re: Chrome Web Store - ChromeVox

2014-03-20 Thread JAKE JOEHL
Hi everyone. I’ve been playing around with Chromevox a bit, and I love it. I
just found the Google American-English voice, I think Grizelda is her name. She
doesn’t sound that bad. A bit snobbish perhaps, but I still like her. I wonder
if she has any relation to Grizelda of the now-defunct eVoice? I’m going to
play with Chromevox some more, but I think Google really did a nice job with it
and I told them so over in one of their discussion groups.

I would contact the google chrome list as they are the ones that handle chrome
vox. You can subscribe by sending a blank message to

axs-chrome-discuss+subscr...@googlegroups.com

Take care.

Re: Chrome Web Store - ChromeVox

2014-03-18 Thread Bryan Jones
Maybe try the following steps. These assume the current stable build of Chrome
running under MacOS 10.9.2. Also, since you will be using VO during the process
of initially installing ChromeVox, keep in mind that VO does not always work
the same in Chrome as it does in Safari or straight webkit. Sometimes if I’m
not able to locate an element in chrome using the VO web rotor I might still be
able to find it using the item chooser or by simply taking the long way ‘round
and VO+Arrowing or even tabbing through the page.
1. Launch Chrome.
2. Go to www.chromevox.com. On that page, navigate to the link labeled
“”Install ChromeVox” and activate the link by pressing VO+Spacebar. This will
hopefully take you to the appropriate Chrome webstore page for ChromeVox.
3. Now navigate to the button unhelpfully labeled “Free” and activate it by
pressing VO+Spacebar.
Chrome might popup a window listing the potential privacy and other issues. If
you are comfortable with these, navigate to the button labeled “Add” and
activate it by pressing VO+Spacebar. At this point the ChromeVox extension
should install itself and start speaking. You can toggle the active/inactive
state of ChromeVox by pressing Command+Control+AA

Some ChromeVox settings are adjusted by going to chrome://extensions, then
navigating to the ChromeVox extension and then activating the options link.

My suggestion after successfully installing ChromeVox is to go back to
www.chromevox.com, read the information on that page and walk through the
interactive tutorial.

HTH,
Bryan
