Re: Adium as of today
It's sorted now thanks to my own messing. Turned out I had it speak when contact returns from away and or idle causing it to say contact become active which I didn't really want. What I'd like to see though is the ability to preview what will be spoken for that event. It's all very well having it speak the event aloud but what will it actually say? We don't know till it actually happens. Now as for sounds they play just fine in the events table. Otherwise I like it and consider using it full time if I choose not to use Skype. Re: Adium as of today
As far as I know you have to download Adium from the web. If you google for it the first result should be the download page. It is hosted on Sourceforge so make sure you get it from there. In any case this is a free mac application and by the way I actually like Adium now. All those years ago it turned out I had Adium to speak when a contact returns from idle and away, hence it saying connected then shortly after become active. It's a shame you can't preview what will be spoken unlike events that play a sound where the sound is played as soon as the action is in focus. Re: adium
Lol. as for the voice over guide all of those short cuts are labeled in the menus. I just memorized the hot keys I need, not all of them though. I've been using and loving adium nightly builds for over 3 years now and apart from their ticket system being so odd that I can't submit any tickets it is a very good app to use and a lot of extras and sound packs you can install. Another thing you can do is command left or right arrow to cycle through your conversations. Re: adium
The thing with it saying it has a new window is sort of, ish, a bug. I say sort of, because what's happening is, in your main contact window, I have never quite understood why this occurs, but whenever someone either changes status, or signs off, for some reason, Voiceover sees that as a new window popping up when your contact list refreshes to reflect the new status. I agree that it's kind of bizarre, but there actually isn't another window popping up. I can see though where this really would be confusing. I know at first for me it sure was. I was like... OK, where on earth's that other window, for goodness sake! Ok. If someone sends her a message in adium, the message is not spoken. Graw used to announce when someone signe in or out or send her a message.
