2013-06-09 Thread Cathy
hi Devin,

the mac access site has about 120 books available if I remember correctly.they
range in price from $1.20 to $3. they use paypal for purchase. so if you have a
paypal account or a credit card you are good to go. they take US dollars or
other currency, but I don't remember what other kind.

I am in the process of placing my order and am eagerly awaiting my books which
will be placed on a virtual bookshelf for me to download whenever and however
many times I want.

Are they in the iBooks store? I only will have money from iTunes, most likely.
So if they're not on the iBooks store, or somewhere within the Apple thing, I
wouldn't probably be able to get them.

Hi Cathy and Others,

I think there have been a few additions to the Take Control Book series since
Lynne's massive update of the available table books last Fall. There's now a
"Take Control of iTunes 11: The FAQ", "Take Control of Mail in iOS 6", and
"Take Control of Networking & Security in iOS 6".

Take Control Books from mac-access list [was Re: troubleshooting the mac procedure]

2013-06-05 Thread Esther
Hi Cathy and Others,

The Take Control books (with discount) are purchased either from Gordon and
Lynne, or through Travis Siegel in the UK. Here's the Mac-Access list web page
information:
http://www.mac-access.net/Take-Control.html

(This should have been one of the pages you viewed when you joined the list.)
By the way, there's no commercial connection with the Take Control people.
Gordon and Lynne negotiated this deal for us because we were all using these
guides. I remember one time on list, several years ago, when I finally emailed
to someone off list that I'd answered his last three questions by looking up
the information from the Take Control of Apple Mail ebook, so he might want to
just buy a copy and cut out the middleman!

Another good thing is that you can get these books in multiple formats (if you
want an ePub version to read on your iPhone, or a mobi format for the Kindle
app, or a PDF version.) An advantage of buying from the Mac-Access list (apart
from the discount), is that they will manage a more accessible site for you to
download your different versions. And Gordon and Lynne know who the list
members are!

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
