Hi

Have you tried a permissions repair in utilities - disc utility app?

This can often sort out problems like this.

Cheers

I've had that happen my self. It's very odd and in my case I try to never add
that key stroke. How ever accidents could and do happen. I thought how ever you
could not assign that key stroke as it would give you an error?

Have you, by any chance, been adding shortcuts in System Preferences then
pressed Cmd-q to quit? You could, accidentally, have used Cmd-q for a different
shortcut and this would prevent it from working normally. Check in the
application menu that Quit is not dimmed.

Cheers,

I don't think it is the keyboard then, because if that was damaged, it would
not say what it does when you press it.

hi Josh, voice over says help menu search field interactive search.

if I press escape a few times I can sometimes get out of the search and back to
mail or text edit.
maybe the Q on my keyboard is not working? but when I use keyboard help it will
say Q.

can't quit my aps

2013-06-17 Thread Cathy
hello all,

weird problem. command Q is not working to close my apps, not any of my primary
aps on the mac. when I press command Q I go into a interactive help screen.
from there I can not get back to a mail message or a file in text edit. I can
only quit the aps by using force quit. I have restarted the aps after a force
quit as well as restarted the Mac, but neither of these things has resolved
the problem.
any ideas?
