Re: iTunes media external drive

2013-07-22 Thread Esther
Hi Doug,

Glad that this all worked out for you, and it was simply a missing file
responsible for your post (and that I read your post that this was working in
another thread before starting to try troubleshooting). The iTunes library
database files should stay on your main mac drive, and not on your external
drive, since they contain the information on where to locate your music and
other media files (whether the tracks for your music files, etc. are on your
laptop hard drive or on an external hard drive.)

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

Not sure I'm fully understanding your set up, but the important thing is to
have your iTunes library point to the accurate location of the music folder,
so if you have moved it, you will need to tell iTunes where to look. You can
do this I think, under the advanced settings in options, or it might be
preferences -

with all my media put to my external drive. and now here is my problem. as
soon as i unplug my drive from the mac, then reconnect it. all the media
becomes invalid. all of the media is on the drive, i imported from the
drive, into iTunes, and my iTunes folder is on the drive. yet all my music
says invalid location. what the heck do i do… this is becoming so
frustrating for me. because i never have these issues…
