[Mac-access]: Pear Note, any Voice Over success Stories?
Hi folks, I’d Like to use Pear Note on my iPad or phone. It seems vO friendly. Is anyone finding it works for them? I’m having a bit of trouble mastering it but it seems like it could be me more then the app. This app records while you take notes and then later you can touch the note and hear the recording near the spot where you took the note. I’m using the iOS app but there is a companion mac app. Eric Caron --- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net --- To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages postedto the Mac-Access forum at the list's public Mail Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/. success
Hi Well, I lived to tell the story. LOL! I went into voiceover utilities and did some reassigning of command keys for the pac mate. I didn't like the fact right and left panning was done with whiz wheels. So I reassigned the first router button for right panning and the last router button on the right end for left panning just like it is for when i am using the pac mate with ordinary reading when the whole unit is together. So life is good. Yea! Hugs and 73 Linda C. Re: Is anyone having success with Lion's new method of typing special characters?
Hello Bryan, Well spotted! I find that I just have to take my time pressing Right Arrow and all the accents are spoken. However, I can only seem to make VO read either the first or last character in the popup list. I've tried all the methods I can think of to navigate the list: Interact, VO+Shift+J, VO left, right, up, down and inside-out, but none of them are doing the trick. I know other letters are there. If I right arrow a different number of times before pressing Return, I get a different character with each different number of arrow presses. For example, my Mac is set to US English and I'm typing on a US English keyboard and when I press and hold the letter A for a second it will silently popup a list of alternate versions of the letter A and if I press right arrow once VO will announce à (a grave). If I continue to arrow right I will hear nothing more, but if I press Return after my second right arrow it will insert á (A acute). Has anybody had success with this feature? I've recently learned the other methods of inserting characters -- with help from Anne R and Esther -- but I was thinking this would be a pretty nice addition to the input methods. Re: Is anyone having success with Lion's new method of typing special characters?
Hello Anne, Thank you for your response. I spent some more time trying it out and seem to have narrowed my issue down to two specific places. The first is within the body of a new or reply message in Mail.app. Interestingly, the picker works fine in the address and subject lines of mail.app, just not in the body, at least not for me. I tried setting the default text format to both RTF and Text but got the same result. Also, turning spell check off made no difference. Would you mind giving it a try in Mail.app and sharing your findings? The second place I'm having the problem is in all fields of Outlook Web Access, which is the interface used by students and staff at my university to access their Exchange email system. This I will bang on some more as time allows. Meanwhile, I've had good success using this feature in the current versions of Bento, Pages, TextEdit and even within the Spotlight search field.
