Lol. I've seen them, for me XCode is a lot easier and I can't make a my stake
and brake things as badly. and it might be easier for the intermiaded user
which I am.

Take care.

Actually, it isn't necessary to install Xcode, though it does give you
dashboard which organizes the plist files nicely, and let's you see
what goes where.
These plist files are plain text files. Simply open them in text edit
or something similar, and edit away. Just be sure not to overwrite
any of the xml tags, or the settings won't be understood by vo, and
all your hard work would be in vane.

Great! I am new enough with the Mac that I did not think about just exporting
the settings and starting from those. I have now done so and consequently
modified the rate. It works very well!

Well, I’m afraid that I have now lost my preferences in my experimentation. I
have to start from ground 0 with configuring VO. Guess it’s not so bad but
will certainly require some time. If anyone has any insight about how these
files are stored, I would appreciate it.

Well, while I appreciate the podcast, it focuses on how to install xCode and
other things like editing preferences you have already saved in your dock.
Honestly, I sometimes have difficulty following these kinds of podcasts.
Simple instructions tend to work better for me. Nevertheless, I’m sure most
people really prefer the podcast format. What I need to know is how to locate
a VO preferences file to modify. If I look in ~/library, I do find VO
preferences but am not at all sure how these are organized and which file I can
use to get a copy of my most recently saved preferences to modify. The link to
your example preferences no longer works but that’s fine. I don’t think I
wanted to start with someone else’s preferences anyway.

Does anyone know how to locate the most recently saved VO preferences?
Thanks.

Yes it would, and you have to edit files. I am not jail broken so can't help in
any way shape or form there. Sorry. I don't have a presentation and apple vis
took the one someone had written down as nuance found out about this and said
they will not endorse such activities.

Take care.

2014-03-12 Thread Geoff Waaler

Hi Sarah,

Excellent presentation and information as always, but I have the impression
that getting an altered prefs file to transfer to the desired location on an
IOS device would necessitate a JB?

Best regards.
Geoff

I read the directions and it looks way too complex for me to try. I
did have wine installed once, and on once.

the catch is this, you need to have the server running. I wonder what
happens if you forget to switch voice and accidental close out the
server. Will it revert to what ever voice you had before switching to
read?
