Apple Compatibility Card

2006-04-11 Thread Ben Pazolli
Simple question hopefully, I have just received a 7-inch Cyrix 586 100MHz
Compatibility Card for my Power Macintosh 7200/120, which I bought off eBay
for just under $20 AUD or $14 USD. Very happy, I am playing all my old dos
games and running Windows 3.11. The problem is I have tried but can't setup
my network on the 586 side. I have a TCP/IP network with DCHP, works fine on
the Mac side. Any pointers would be great and I read somewhere that there
are problems running the same protocol on both sides. If so, could someone
explain the workaround clearer?

Thanks for the Help,
Ben Pazolli

P.S. I not sure if this list is still operating, there has been very little
activity and it hasn't made the transition to Google groups, if I don't
receive a response in a day or two, I will repost this question on PCI
PowerMacs.

Re: Emulators

2005-11-19 Thread Ben Pazolli
I would suggest getting iEmulator. I haven't used either but it seems
from the screenshots that Open OSX is just a front for Bochs. I have
used the open source Bochs and I got it to boot up Windows 98 but very
slow, to the point that it took about ten minutes to boot. While I'm
sure that Open OSX has a large speed improvement. I would go with
iEmulator because their video clips show you that is probably fast
enough to do what you want, plus it seems it is the only product that
they make. While Open OSX seems to have a mixed bag of open source
based applications. iEmulator seems to of probably been built from the
ground up and made specifically for the Mac platform. Bochs is written
in slow universal code. If I remember correctly though the GNU public
licence means that OpenOSX has to submit any changes to the code. So
either they haven't changed it at all or it is out on the Internet
somewhere. Note this doesn't apply to the user friendly front end.
Also notice how there screen shots don't show any real applications
running on windows. With all this in mind and the fact that iEmulator
is cheaper, I would go with iEmulator. By the way, I know it costs a
bit more but have you considered Guest PC from Lismore Systems.

 Hi Folks:
I'm buying a new iMac and want to get an emulator. I'm tossing up
between Open OSX and iEmulator. An experience or advice?

I'm running a pre-MS version of Virtual PC at the moment, but, it won't
run on OSX. I use it for MYOB accounting software. The Mac and PC
versions of MYOB are only compatible in their highest level version. I
do the books for our community radio station and it is unfortunately
 all PCs.

Re: NTFS For Win98?

2005-09-06 Thread Ben Pazolli
I am sorry but I am a bit confussed what you are trying to acheive. If
you want a boot disk that can read and write to an NTFS partition I
can help you. But if you want to add NTFS support to Windows 98 I
can't. As for this program I have never heard of it.
