There are a few Mikes here. ;) all good folk.
I had the same ip wierdness with the classic OS and a NAT server.

A few things to check.

1) I cure all ills by using a staic address on the offending mac which fixed the 
problem. Currently, if the TPC/IP control panel shows the correct ip range 
aquired from the DHCP server try the next option

2) is the starting domain name in the TPC/IP control panel, put in whatever 
works in the XP box. Does winipcfg work under XP? Un-needed when configured with 
a static address.

3) in the options tab make tpc available at startup rather than the default "as 
needed". Again un-needed using a static address

4) double check the router and dns addresses, add these manually if if they are 
incorrect.

It's early in the morning for me so I've done a worse than usual job of a reply. 
If your having no problems filesharing then the tpc config just needs a tweak 
and you should be surfing again.

Hi,

I'm having a problem connecting to the internet (or any other IP connectivity) 
with my Powerbook G3 (running OS 9.2.2) via Win 2003 server running RRAS.  

When I first brought the Powerbook home, it was running OS 8.5.  On the Win 
2003 server, I set up a computer account for the Powerbook, a user account, and 
a DNS record for it as well.  On the Powerbook, I gave it the same name as the 
machine account I set up on the 2003 server, set up the same user account as I 
had on the server, and the IP address that I used for the new DNS record on the 
server.  (The 2003 server is a domain controller/DNS server running RRAS w/2 
ethernet adapters)  I also have SFM running on the server for file sharing.  
With this setup, I booted up the Powerbook, connected to the assigned shares on 
the server (via Chooser), and went out to the internet w/o any problems.  (I 
could ping the Powerbook from the Win 2003 server)  

Now, I initialized the hard drive on the Powerbook and installed OS 9.2.2.  I 
tried the same setup on both machines as I had with OS 8.5, but I can't get IP 
connectivity between the Powerbook and 2003 server.  File sharing works like a 
champ, but there is no answers to ping from the 2003 server to the Powerbook.
