I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about a wall charger.

I have a couple of the portable batteries, but I got them for charging a phone
while camping or hiking, so they’re pretty small. Costco has twin-packs of 3000
mAh batteries for a really good price. These are fine for an iPhone, but not
for an iPad Pro.

The battery in an iPad Pro is rated at about 1 mAh, so you should probably
look at batteries in that range or higher.

I’ve looked at a few chargers and they don’t seem to have wattage ratings - I
see listings like this: 2mAh

I saw one that had several photos of the item and in one of the photos it said
“Triple-device charging - 30W of power ensures high-speed multi-device
charging.” This item was rated at 26800mAh

A quick google search tells me mAh stands for milli Ampere hour which is a
measure of the battery’s energy storage capacity. The higher the mAh rating the
more energy it can store.

Nowhere else in the description of the item did it mentioned wattage.

I looked up the syncwire charger you mentioned and I think I will get one but
my original question is about portable batteries that will charge your device
when on the go like on a long flight when your iPad is running out of battery
power and there is not electrical outlet to charge the device.

Thank.s

Apple’s USB-C charger for the iPad Pro is rated as 29 watts. Chargers rated
less than that will work, but charge it more slowly. A charger rated higher
than that will not charge it any faster. The iPhone 7 charger is rated at 7
watts, so any charger with at least that much capability will charge it as
quickly.

I have a Syncwire 4-port charger for use while traveling. We charge two phones,
an iPad 2 and an iPad mini all at the same time. It is rated at 34 watts and
charges everything overnight while we sleep. I got it in a package with their
car charger for under $25 at Fry’s in Indianapolis.

I bought this one in early 2015 and it's still working.

[MacGroup] A different kind of Eclipse question…

2017-08-15 Thread R. D. Preston
Hi,

I’m not concerned with directly witnessing the event, but would like to know if
there will be any astronomical and/or telescope-style recordings available…

…of the PARTIAL eclipse from the local vicinity of Louisville?…
…of the FULL eclipse from relatively nearby areas?…
…that will then be made available as a download to my desktop Mac at home?

Thanks,
