Whatever program or script generated that error message was not provided by
MacPorts; MacPorts would not be looking for anything in
/usr/local/mysql-5.5.6-rc-osx10.6-x86_64. I'm guessing it was provided by the
software in that directory, which I'm guessing was not completely uninstalled.

What command did you run to get that message? something with
mysql_install_db(5)? (It appears to be an error message that
mysql_install_db(5) would produce.) If so, where is the mysql_install_db(5) it
is finding -- what does "which mysql_install_db" (or "which mysql_install_db5")
say? What is in your path -- what does "echo $PATH" say?

Yes, those are where MacPorts would install it, so that's normal.

ImageMagick & ghostscript @9.00_4 convert issues

2011-01-06 Thread Bradley Giesbrecht
I have a file processing script that has been processing a few hundred
images per week for over a year.

The combination of ImageMagick and ghostscript @9.00_4 is producing
pink instead of white backgrounds.

Reverting to ghostscript @8.71_5 and this problem goes away.

Has anyone else experienced problems with ghostscript @9.00_4?

Has the functionality of ghostscript changed with @9.00_4?

Or expressed in terms of Finder functionality:

"open " is the same as double-clicking the file

"open -a " is the same as double-clicking the program

"open -a " is the same as dragging the file onto the
program

"open -e " is the same as dragging the file onto the program

man open ;)

'open ' will open with its default program if there is one.
'open -a ' will open with

and my personal favorite,

'open -a ' just launches the program as though you clicked it on
the dock or double-clicked it in the finder (and remember that Mac is
case-insensitive).

i.e. "open -a textedit" or "open -a app\ store" if you've downloaded the
latest update.

Re: FATAL ERROR: Could not find mysqld & Missing Port 3306

2011-01-06 Thread David Gentry
Ryan,

Following your advice, I carefully tried to uninstall all previous disk image
versions of MySQL that I had downloaded from the MySQL web site. Also, I
uninstalled mysql and mysql-server using sudo port uninstall.

I carefully followed the instructions on the web page you referred me to. I
had no trouble until I tried to install the mysql main database. Using both
commands given, I received the following reply:

"FATAL ERROR: Could not find mysqld

The following directories were searched:

/usr/local/mysql-5.5.6-rc-osx10.6-x86_64/libexec
/usr/local/mysql-5.5.6-rc-osx10.6-x86_64/sbin
/usr/local/mysql-5.5.6-rc-osx10.6-x86_64/bin

If you compiled from source, you need to run 'make install' to
copy the software into the correct location ready for operation.

If you are using a binary release, you must either be at the top
level of the extracted archive, or pass the --basedir option
pointing to that location."

I searched for "mysqld" on my Mac, and I found it installed yesterday (when I
was working from your referred instructions) in the following two locations:

/opt/local/libexec/mysqld

/opt/local/var/macports/software/mysql5/mysql5.1.51_0/opt/local/libexec/mysqld

Note: The directories searched for mysqld by the database install script don't
exist anymore on my Mac.

How can I resolve the "FATAL ERROR"?

David

You should uninstall the MySQL that you installed via the disk image you
downloaded from the MySQL web site, and instead use the MySQL provided by
MacPorts. Instructions for setting it up are in our wiki:

Re: KMyMoney 1.0.5 without online banking support? [solved]

2011-01-06 Thread Marko Käning
> Maybe some components got only searched or registered after the shell start

as I tried to point out it IS NECESSARY to start kmm twice after installing a
plugin or after re-installing kmm itself.
This must be due to some plugin-related issues which I haven't understood yet.
Looks like it's not only present on MacOSX, but also on a Linux-based KDE.

Instead of starting kmm twice you could have entered the kmm configuration,
gone into the plugins sheet and pressed OK to trigger a reload of all plugins.
Then you'd have the online banking menu points also enabled.

I'm glad it worked for you.

Re: KMyMoney 1.0.5 without online banking support? [solved]

2011-01-06 Thread Matthias Schneider
Hi,

My problem is solved now.

I have installed the kmm_banking plugin in addition to kmymoney package. Still
the Online Banking menu did not show up when I started KMyMoney via the
Application Launcher installed in Applications/MacPorts.

It seems that the problem was solved when calling kmymoney2 from the shell.
Then the Online Banking menu (showing aqbanking) was visible.

Now Online Banking is also visible when starting KMyMoney via the Application
Launcher.

Maybe some components got only searched or registered after the shell start of
the application.

Thanks to Marko and Ryan for your comments!

Best regards
Matthias

Re: KMyMoney 1.0.5 without online banking support?

2011-01-06 Thread Marko Käning
Hi Matthias,

kmm 1.0.5 comes with support for OFX and in principle also HBCI, but you'd have
to also install the port kmm_banking to get that functionality.
After installing said port it could be that you'd have to start kmm twice to
get the plugin to function properly. Then you'll be able to get German HBCI to
work, if that's what you need.

kmymoney4 does still not support HBCI support, but kmymoney4-devel does. But be
aware, there are still many problems with the KDE4-version of KMyMoney. It
looks like half installations are destined to malfunction… :-( And I haven't
had enough feedback as well as far too little time for serious investigation as
to what causes it.

My advice: stick with 1.0.5 if you need something reliable.

In case you are willing to support KMM4 development I'd welcome you as a
tester. But be patient, here on my DualCore iMac it takes 6 hrs to build KMM4
from scratch with all its dependencies. Once you've got it all up an running
you'd need only 7 min to reinstall for instance the latest svn version using
the kmymoney4-devel port.

Wishing you a happy new year,
Marko

I'm not sure. kmymoney does declare a dependency on aqbanking. kmymoney4 does
declare a dependency on aqbanking5. So they appear to intend to be using
aqbanking.
